No, not a good idea, try to speak to the dentist, he might prescribe a course of antibiotics. If the fistula (little blister) bursts on its own rinse with lukewarm saltwater Source(s): dentalnurse

im 26 weeks and 3 days pregnant and i have an abscess under my tooth.?
Q: Now i don’t have a dentist but im in the uk and did see an emergency dentist last saturday he tried but couldn’t burst it to drain it as he said it wasn’t ready. So he gave me antibiotics to take and said to get myself a dentist (easier said than done). Anyway i have finished the course on antibiotics, the pain has gone completely, no swelling either. But the lump is still there. I phoned emergency dentist Again and he said the lump don’t go straight away and that im to call emergency dentist again next week to get the tooth removed hopefully or drained. I asked what effects this would have on the baby and he was very vague and i couldn’t understand but he said its the pus that can cause problems.Im now panicked. I wont be able to be seen till at least friday as appointments are very hard to come by here. I don’t want to harm my baby. Im hoping the antibiotics have got rid of infection and like i said i have no pain or anything. I do have a bad taste in my mouth in the morning but that could be morning breath (TMI SORRY)Anyone have one in pregnancy, did you have any problems even if it took awhile to be treated? Im really worried so please no see a dentist because that is what i have done
A: there is a risk of the infection getting in your blood. As of direct danger to the baby I am honestly not sure but you may nee dto get another round of antibiotics. Maybe not though.. Please call your obgyn/nurse ASAP. The dentist was vague b/c he is probably not to sure of the complete interaction to your baby. The pus shouldn’t cause problems just the fact that pus means infection most likely. Once again please call your obgyn or midwife. I would think you should be ok until Friday as you took the antibiotics. You can’t get an xray while pregnant unless they have a tummy shield and even then some doctors won’t do it. You can’t get he laughing gas but you can get local numbing shot to help with the pain before they pull the tooth.
How would you handle this situation?
Q: Long story short, I was over a friends house last week and noticed a burst abscess on his cats paw. If I hadn’t been there, I can guarantee you he wouldn’t have taken him to the vet. I went with him to the vet, and not only did the cat have a severely infected abscess, but he also had a bad fungal infection in his ears, he was dehydrated, and had an abscessed tooth. I would up paying for the visit because he couldn’t. (He has had to borrow money before, and always pays me back, so I wasn’t horribly concerned even tho it was a lot of money). Now the cat is due for a recheck next week. The vet visit is $50.00 and likely won’t need anything else (he looks worlds better). He keeps saying how he can’t pay for it, and I am afraid that if I don’t offer to pay again, he isn’t going to take the cat back, but I am not a bank. This is not my cat. I am unemployed and have 2 cats of my own that are my responsibility. When do I say no? What would you do? I feel like my good nature is being slightly taken advantage of, but I also want to see this cat get the care it needs (and deserves). Feeling very conflicted here, and would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks 🙂
A: Your good nature IS being taken advantage of, join the club ! Our neighbour has 15 rescue cats, yes her heart is in the right place but her head isn’t as sometimes she has a cash flow problem for buying their food. BTW we do help her out with extra food too because without her, those cats would be homeless or dead.So every other week she borrows from us,yes she pays us back like your friend does but last week she asked to borrow a large sum of money for her rent. She said to keep a roof over the cats heads. What could we do ? It’s left us short,we’ll have to juggle our finances until she pays us back.Meanwhile she’s out shopping for new clothes, boots etc, ours come from charity shops ! My point is, the more you loan people, the more they expect you to.I’m amazed a vet charges for a check up, the ones I worked for didn’t if the animal needed no further treatment. I think if I was you I’d hold back paying for the check up as the cat seems OK, but keep a close eye on him for any problems recurring. It’s not as simple as some people ‘advise’ reporting him and having the cat taken from him, you’d fall out with your friend and where would the cat end up ? It’s not easy to find a good home for an adult cat.At least you can keep a close eye on his welfare where he is now. Like we do here.Do you have any charities there to help people with pets who can’t afford vets treatment, like our PDSA ? It’s a hard life loving cats and being concerned about not only your own, but other peoples too. Many people who have pets shouldn’t really have them, not only because they can’t afford to care for them properly but also because they don’t really know how to.I hope the cat is OK.
Are you a Dentist or a Doctor? Help please!!! I need your advice!!!?
Q: A few weeks ago I started getting strange pains in the side of my face, it would start at the bottom of my jaw line and slowly work it’s way across the rest of my face, giving me what felt like a toothache an earache and a migraine all at the same time. It came and went for a few days here and there and then part of my tooth fell out… it was only a small shard but this happened twice and for no apparent reason other then the tooth is beginning to rot away I guess. The problem is that when these shards came out they left sharp tips which would cut, grind and gnaw at the inside of my cheeks and gums. Now my gums have swollen up all around my tooth and more recently have developed cuts and some sort of spots, blisters, a bad puss like taste and a nasty odour which doesn’t go away no matter how many times I brush my teeth, which I’m guessing is the infection. So… it sounds simple enough… right? well it’s not… cos since all this has happened a lump has emerged from underneath my jawline… I’ve known about this lump for a long time and had always assumed it was some kind of cyst, I had a problem with it once slipping around knotting my muscles up but then it disappeared and I haven’t had a problem with it for years or even noticed it for that matter but now it’s swollen up to the point that it feels like it’s going to burst, it’s very sensitive and painful to touch and it’s adding a lot of tension to the surrounding muscles.Which brings me to my questions…Who should I see first a dentist or a doctor?Which will they treat first the tooth or the cyst or can they treat both at the same time?Is there anything I can do to help ease the pain of either of these problems? (obviously I haven’t got any cocaine to hand)Also if left untreated or if the infection spreads or the cyst or abscess bursts releasing it’s poisonous toxins into my blood stream etc.. what’s the worst case scenario? how long will I have to live? will they amputate my jaw? 8)
A: I am very surprised that you have had all these symptoms for so long and have not been to see your dentist.Might as well see your dentist as that is where your Dr will send you anyway.Tooth infections cause lumps and cysts, as do stones in the salivary glands but all need to be reviewed and sorted by your dentist. He will exam and xray and then decide on how to treat and whether it needs to referred and I bet you get a course of antibiotics to start with.If you sort yourself out and go in the next couple of days by Christmas Day they will have kicked in and you fell better about it.Toothache can cause symptoms like migraine and sinus pain and muck up facial feelings till you are completely confused.
