Has anyone had an internal infection after a c-section???

Q: I had a c-section 3 weeks ago. My incision healed up fine and I was doing great until 2 days ago. My lower left abdomen is extremely tender and very painful inside. I’m having a hard time just getting up and down. I’m also running a temp of anywhere from 99 – 102. I went to the doc’s yesterday and they did an ultrasound and then sent me to a surgeon to see if it was a hernea, which it wasn’t. The surgeon also stuck a needle in my stomach to see if it was an abcess, which it wasn’t. They sent me home with pain meds and antibiotics. Today, I feel even worse. Has anyone ever experienced this? Does anyone know any websites with information on signs and symptoms of an infection or anything related to this so I might research it myself since the docs can’t figure out what is wrong?Any info would be great. If it doesn’t get any better today I will be going back to the doc’s tomorrow.

A: i had this happen. it is an infection. if your breastfeeding, dont breastfeed for the babys health. you know your body better than anyone else. they tryed to tell me nothing was wrong, i went to 4 doctors before one actually said, yes it is an infection, and you need to be treated right away. i was in the hospital for 2 days though, which was hard being away from my newborn daughter. i get infected easy and i know myself better than they do. just keep going to different doctors soon and dont give up!

A: I had the same problem with my c-section last June. I didn’t know where to get information but my gynae said that it is possible that the cause of it was due to rapid movements. C-section patients are not supposed to do any heavy-lifting or move too much within the first 30 days. It is obvious that u are having an infection when u are having a fever. Make sure you watch your diet. Do not take any seafood, any food with vinegar, no nuts and drink plenty of water. And when u shower, wet cotton wool on lukewarm water that is mixed with antiseptic liquid eg Dettol and clean your incision and the skin around it. And make sure you wipe it dry and put some antiseptic cream on the incision and fan it a few times a day. I know it hurts but I wish you well.

Hematoma/Abcess after surgery?

Q: I am 8 weeks post-op from having an open liver resection for an adenoma (I have a traditional back to front “L” shape incision).I was at my GP’s today and pointed out that my lower abdomen is sticking out/swollen in the point where the two incisions of the ‘L” meet.He has ordered an ultrasound….I didn’t really ask any questions but noiced on the form’s clinical notes that it says “swollen at incision site – check hematoma or abcess.I know what each of these are but what is the treatment f it turns out to be one of these

A: I&D (incision and drainage) to remove it, and certainly antibiotics.
