Book Review: Visions in Death by J D Robb

Visions In Death by J D Robb is a premonition of murder, witty lines, and Lieutenant Eve Dallas outsmarting the bad guys once again.

We’ve all seen the cop dramas about cops using psychics to help solve a murder, but how many psychics push themselves in to the investigation. Eve gets this feeling that this psychic is holding something back. What she is holding back will surprise you.

Women are being strangled and then left in the parks they are walking through, naked, a red bow tied around their neck, and missing their eyes. The women being murdered have almost nothing in common, which makes Eve’s job difficult. A psychic approaches her after seeing the first murder on the news; she says she saw the murder through the victim’s eyes. She helps in giving a rough enough description of the murderer but in the end it is good cop work that brings down the murderer.

J D Robb has this way of making you laugh even when murder is involved. She does this with the relationships between characters which are realistic and some can be quite hilarious. For example, the relationship between Eve and the butler, Summerset. At one point Eve walks into the house and Summerset is there to greet her as usual. He comments on her coming home early and without destroying any article of clothing, and how he must note the event down on his calendar. To which Eve responds in kind of how Summerset is always bitching at her and could go pro on the bitching circuit. Just that little bit of levity, puts a small smile on your face and maybe a little laugh. These little tid-bits only entice you to read more.

This book is truly a gem. You won’t be able to put it down.
