I am Rhesus D Neg Group A. and have had to have a very serious blood tranfusion many years ago, when they pumped it cold straight in as I had ten minutes left to live without it, I lost about all of mine and so a lot of blood and plasma was used. Mine was in 1977, in the UK, long before the scares began, but much of the plasma was imported from the US and ‘bought’ from vagrants. I am aware it’s possible that one can carry things life Hepatitis C and HIV for decades, as well as other nasties, so I understand your friend’s fear. I decided not to know because insurance companies put it on your mortgage applications and my ex had palpitations over the implications to his career. It’s not likely there is anything without touching some blood products, like plasma, but, maybe things have moved on, who knows. I did see something about a new ‘blood free’ product on the news a few weeks ago, can’t recall the country, but I know it is in the infancy developmental stages and so will be a few years before it can be used freely. I am eternally grateful for my life and for the products I received, and because I’ve had many other brushes with the lamighty, I just look at it this way. every day since then is a bonus day for me, so aint I the lucky one;-)My late mum never needed blood fortunately, but if she had, it would have been more difficult for her, since only three per cent of the population have her Rhesus Neg AB Group. Your friend needs to ask at her local NHS clinic to speak to a haematologist and discuss this issue in depth to put her mind at ease, about procedures locally. (sorry spell check out of order)
i am also rhesus negative and i only needed an injection after my 3rd child.i was never told i would need blood
i wasnt given blood but the do give you an injection with each pregnancy and straight after the birth for any future pregnancies
I had this problem I just didn’t have the jab, they said it was an accumulative effect and would take a number of pregnancies before it was a problem any way, get you friend to discuss with doctor.
No,, look at these links.http://www.google.com/search?lr=&ie=utf-.
Do you mean if she needs blood in the pregnancy ??There is an injection which is given just before birth to stop the bloods fusing or mother and baby ..Then your friend would be given another after the birth. If this is the 1st child. If your friend needs blood then only blood will do , i am afraid, rhesus negative i rather rare and she should just follow her consultants advice.
if you had researched this any further you would know that you dont ever treat RH neg with blood. it is treated with an injection of Rhogam at 28 weeks of pregnancy.
try a herbalist
Rhogam. She has to get it, if the doctor says there is an incompatibility, otherwise her immune system (that keeps her healthy) will think that the baby is a foreign body and attack it.
