So what can I do about it. I have a list of pelvic floor exercises, and have tried doing them but when I do, I get symptoms as if I have a bladder infection for about a week, the same if I use one of those internal weight systems. It is awful, and I’m so embarrassed. Does anyone know what might help please?

I don’t have any answers but if it helps I am the same. Pelvic floor muscles just not what they used to be. It would seem to be a commen problem in women especially after kids!
a urologist will help if u call one, please do before something goes so wrong that u need something like an operation.

you need to keep up the pelvic floor / kegel excercises. don’t work yourself to the point of exhaustion, but do them regularly.If those don’t work, surgery is an option. Here’s a link to a video of a TVT procedure being performed http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=.

Stress Incontinence is caused by the weakening of the sphincter muscles or pelvic floor meaning your bladder is not properly sealed and any extra pressure put on the bladder causes urine to leak out. Stress incontinence can also be linked to going through the menopause because the hormone changes mean that the vagina, urethra and surrounding areas become dry.If you are having problems doing regular pelvic floor exercises, ask your doctor about the use of cones. The cone shaped object is put inside the vagina and your muscles automatically tighte to hold it in. You wear them for about 10 minutes at a time and can really help. They also come in different weights so once you can keep them in easily, you can use a heavier one to continue to strengthen the muscles.As you say you are not even 40, I suspect that your problems are not caused by the menopause; which could be treated with horome replacement therapy. The only thing left to do if you are having problems with the pelvic floor exercises is an operation. I suggest you speak to your doctor as you shouldn’t be in so much pain from trying the exercises – and remember that over half of women experience stress incontinence at some point during their lives so your GP should be pretty clued up and be able to help you out.
See your doctor because there is an operation they can do. They put some tape under your bladder to support it and this works.
