What is the best long term birth control method?

My boyfriend and I have a very monogomous relationship (trust I am certain), therefore we dont always have protected sex. However, I’ve already been pregnant twice in the past. The first time I got pregnant because I wasnt on any birth control and the second time I was on a low-hormone pill. Even though the pill was use as directed I feel that the particular pill type mightve been too weak and thats why I ended up preggers, but the catch is that I can only consume low-doses of hormones in my system, so any regular pill is out of the question…they make my system go haywire. So, now I am looking at long term birth control methods like the IUD and others. Can someone please share their experiences with any of these? I dont want to have to worry about a pill everyday or worry about the chances of possibly being pregnant again.

the other answers you received were unfortunately not very helpful to your particular situation. look very closely at the iud, in particular, the mirena iud. it is convenient, long term and causes your periods to be much lighter and less painful than usual-most women dont even have periods on it. it has a small amount of hormones that affects the lining of your uterus but doesnt raise your blood levels significantly and there is no estrogen. i would not use the copper iud as it will cause heavier, more painful periods which may be bothersome. i currently have the mirena iud myself and am a gynecologist so i speak from much experience. in addition, the iud is more effective than tying your tubes in preventing pregnancy and it is reversible.
