More Answers to “Is it normal that at 12.5 weeks the nurse still didn’t hear the babies heart beat she said it was to soon?“It depends on how large you are. If you have a little fluff around the mid section it is a little harder to pick up the sound waves. I wouldn’t worry to much about. You should be hearing your babies heart beat by your next visit. A baby’s heart beat can be heard anywhere from 7 wks up but mostly it is heard at 11-12 wks.
One can pick up the fetal heart beat as early as 10 weeks with a “doppler soniket” and can visualize it on “sonography” as early as 7 weeks. It can be heard by a “stethoscope” not before 24 weeks. It is most advisable for you to go in for a “ultrasound” to check for fetal viability. I’ve read that you can’t hear the fetal heart beat until 20 weeks.
