Do you have to insert NuvaRing during your menstrual cycle?
Q: I am on NuvaRing for exactly a week now. I was never on any birth control before. I have been reading everything online and everything says to insert it 2-5 days of your menstrual cycle if no birth control was used before. However, mine was started almost a week after my period started. Do you think this will effect the efficacy of the ring?
A: I believe in my reading somewhere I saw that inserting it during the menses is easier if insertion is a problem. You should have no problems but may want to use an alternate form of BC for a few weeks “First time users of the Ring will start this method of birth control during the first five days of their menstrual period. Because it takes seven days for the Ring to become effective, it will be necessary to use an additional form of birth control during the first week. However, if you have already been using another form of hormonal birth control, then the Ring should be effective as soon as you switch. ” from http://www.epigee.org/guide/ring.html
How long after I insert my Nuvaring should my period stop?
Q: This is the first month I am using Nuvaring. I am used to having longer periods, though I know using Nuvaring should shorten them. However the packaging says to still insert a new ring even if you’re still bleeding. So if my period is still continuing by the time I’m ready for a new one, how long should it take for my period to stop once a new ring has been inserted?
A: IDK My doctor told me to put it in after my period and and after 3 weeks take it out to get my period. I prefer to have it out when I get my period because I dont really have sex while im on it Id rather have it in while im not on my period.
What would happen if insert Nuvaring 7 days after i got my period?
Q: They recommend to insert it 5 days or less after i get my period, but today is my 7th day, what’s the risk? In wich negative way it can affect me if i insert it in the 7th day after my period?…p.s. Im 100% im not pregnant
A: Only problem that I can think of is that those 2 days inbetween when you should have put it in, and when you did put it in, is that you aren’t protected against pregnancy during those days.
