Beto’s Pizza & Restaurant in Pittsburgh, PA

Pizza has become a fast food family staple and a basic necessity of survival for many children. Pizza is known for its variety of styles, crusts, toppings, sauces, sizes, and origins. There is one place that will change the way you see and eat pizza. Beto’s, located on Banksville Road in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is a small, made-to-order pizza place that serves you a fresh, warm, crispy pizza crust that is topped with their homemade sauce, however the cheese and toppings are served cold.

Some people may see this as odd and turn their nose up at it. I did that same thing the first time I ate at Beto’s. I love melted cheese and this concept definitely didn’t appeal to me. But I tried it anyway. It was very different biting into a warm crispy pizza crust and sauce then to have it replaced by cold cheese and toppings just went against traditional pizza practices. The sudden change in textures and temperatures throw you off. My first experience at Beto’s wasn’t a pleasant one.

My fiancé loves Beto’s and after my first experience, I found myself craving another slice of Beto’s pizza to just try it one more time. The uniqueness of the pizza drew me back and gave me another chance to find the appreciation for Beto’s pizza. If you are not the adventurous kind, Beto’s does offer you the traditional fully cooked pizza option for a bit more in price. Beto’s pizza is very affordable as it is around $2 per slice with $0.50 per topping.

If you need a side with your pizza, Beto’s offers curly fries, salads, and breaded shrimp. I have only ever tried the curly fries, which for $4 gives you a very large portion with warm cheese dipping sauce.

I highly suggest broadening your pizza horizons and trying Beto’s pizza the next time you are visiting Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. You may have to give it one or two tries, but in the end, you’ll realize that it may be unique, but it is delicious in its own way!
