Decrease Your Bills

Want to decrease your bills? If so, you are like many people. According to a Public Agenda survey, 4 out of 10 Americans struggle financially and worry about the future. Fortunately, if you are willing to adopt a few new habits, you can improve your economic welfare.

1. Pay early.

Late fees add up. Practice paying utilities early. This way, you won’t accrue additional charges that put you further behind, financially.

2. Clip coupons.
Get the Sunday paper? Look for fillers that display coupons. By matching manufacturer coupons with store discounts, you can reduce your grocery bill. Depending on your state, you may even be able to stack coupons.

3. Bundle services.
Decrease your bills by purchasing your cable, phone and Internet from the same company. Media giants like Comcast will give you a cost-break. Your savings can be stashed in a bank account or go towards another service.

4. Ask for discounts.
Are you aware of any discounts offered by your auto insurance carrier? Contact your agent and ask about them. Common ones are given for good students, good drivers and various car safety features. Their application can reduce your premium by at least 10%.

5. Automate payments.

Bankers and other agencies often reduce monthly loan amounts if an applicant agrees to automatic payments. Why? This method of payment ensures they always get their money. It also forces you to be mindful of the available funds in your checking account.

6. Adjust thermostats.

Enjoy staying cool in the summer and warm in the winter? Decrease your bills by adjusting your thermostat. Turn this device down a few degrees and reduce your charges for energy. Don’t worry. Your body will get used to the change without any problem.

7. Eat meals at home.

Going out to dinner is fun, but expensive. Learn to cook your favorite burger or pasta dish at home. The dollars you shell out for the ingredients will stretch farther because you can replicate the same meal twice.

8. Lower interest rates.

What interest rate do you pay for your credit card? Ask for a lower one. To keep you as a customer, most credit card reps will negotiate with you. Once you come to an agreeable figure, pledge to use your credit card for only emergencies.

Decrease your bills by applying the above to your life. Stop running with the crowd. By changing the way you approach life, you will be less frustrated financially and you will also manage your money better.
