Lindsay Lohan Joins Kim Kardashian as Another Fallen Angel for Playboy

Early in its publishing run, Playboy magazine often showcased models that embodied the wholesome, girl-next-door image, just without their clothes on. Times change and, over the last decade, the publication has pursued several women who personify the bad girl image.

Take, for instance, Lindsay Lohan, the troubled actress who recently announced that she would be posing for Playboy. More than a decade ago, Lohan was the epitome of wholesomeness in such Disney fare as “The Parent Trap” and “Freaky Friday.” Even in a film like “Mean Girls” where Lohan’s character fell from grace, she found redemption before the closing credits

Besides her upcoming photo layout, Lohan has been in the news for violating the terms of her probation. It’s obvious that her once wholesome image has long since faded from those more innocent Disney days.

Lohan also isn’t the first “fallen angel” to grace the Playboy pages, though.

This week, Kim Kardashian added to her bad girl credentials by filing for divorce from husband Kris Humphries after just 72 days of marriage. In December 2007, Kardashian appeared nude in Playboy in the days before her reality series “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” hit the airwaves.

In 2010, the magazine released additional photos from that same 2007 shoot, taking advantage of her popularity and bad girl status. Although her fans had good things to say about the additional shots, Kardashian was upset about their release last year.

Former child star Tara Reid became a hot commodity after “American Pie” arrived in theaters in 1999, playing an All-American girl named Vicky who was getting more intimate with her boyfriend. Reid had less screen time in the sequel and the years following those films were filled with bad script choices and botched plastic surgery. The latter became evident during a very public 2006 wardrobe malfunction.

In October 2009, Reid posed for Playboy, explaining that another surgeon had corrected the mistakes and she wanted to show everyone that she was doing fine. Reid is joining her old castmates for “American Reunion,” the fourth movie in the “American Pie” series which is due in theaters in 2012.

Although the tabloids are pretty down on Kim Kardashian these days, Heidi Montag, former star of the reality series “The Hills,” has set the bar pretty low for disturbing celebrity divorces. Montag and husband Spencer Pratt have filed for divorce, but later said the whole thing was a publicity stunt. The two renewed their vows in late 2010 in a ceremony they call their first “real wedding.”

Montag’s Playboy pictorial hit newsstands in August 2009, but she and Pratt must have wasted the money she received. Current reports indicate that the on-again, off-again couple are broke and living in a beach house owned by Pratt’s parents.
