The City of Dallas is quickly becoming a destination for many conference goers and the nightlife is expanding because of the people that are flocking to the Central Texas mecca. At the time of this publication, Dallas has the ninth largest population within the United States. The cities slogan of “Live Large, Think Big,” is not being lost of some of the bars and pubs located in the city limits.


Ten Sports Grill

The “Dallas Observer” has named Ten Sports Grill has the best place for an athlete to get a drink for three years consecutive years. The bar and grill is not the largest bar in town, but it makes up the size in the quality of service and sporting fan it brings out in each of the patrons. The personal service provided by the waitresses, which is why it is called ten, will delight any person entering its doors. The two for ten special provides its guests with two main dishes off its lunch menu for on $10 spent. It creates a host of take-out orders, so get there early so you can order the special before it gets busy.

The extended Happy Hour, which runs from 11 a.m. To 7 p.m., finds you staying longer because of the drink specials. The frozen drinks can be enjoyed with a wing bucket or a domestic beer that smoothly runs down your throat. The 10 plasma televisions lining the walls of this bar will allow you to watch your favorite sport, even when other sports are being played on one of the other screens. A host of video games line the walls, if sports are not what you desire. One item off the menu that is a must try is the buffalo shrimp, that can be hot, medium or mild, but watch out for the hot, it will make you drink more.

Zúbar

One trendy club in Dallas is the Zubar, with its sofas and bright colors, it caters to a different crowd of bar goers. You have to pay a cover charge, which was $10 at the time of this publication, but you will join the professional crowd that live in and around the downtown area of the city. It seems to draw more of the younger professionals, but the environment is friendly and welcoming to the older generation.

The bar is getting to be known as the place to be seen or where the hip crowd wants to hang out, but Zubar will accommodate any patron that wants to dine, drink or socialize there. On Saturday and Sunday, the bar has a DJ playing hip-hop and reggae music for the crowd that is nestled around the sofas.

Ginger Man

If you are a drinker or lover of different types of beer, then the Ginger Man is heaven. With more than 100 different domestic beers and 70 different draft beers, this bar is a beer lovers paradise. Don’t worry, the bar also has an extended wine list for the wine loving patrons. The microbrewery will also interest you or the large servings of Belgian ales. The is rated in the top 10 for several years, by several local magazines. Built within a house, the Ginger Man has an upstairs, lounge, balcony and outside beer garden that can be used by anyone of its guests. On the weekends you will find local talent playing music outside in the beer garden.

The bar opens for lunch and is not known for its evening menu. Where the bar makes up the limitations is with the environment and setting. Its Wednesday night Think and Drink Trivia is popular with the locals, while other even themes bring in others.
