Getting my house in tip-top shape is always a challenge during the holiday season. So to save time and energy, here are the cleaning products I use.
1. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser ( $6 for 8-count at drugstores)
The best product on the market for removing dirt and grime is Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser. It just wet it and it instantly lifts away dirt and grime including grease, ink and crayon. I use it on my living room walls to get rid of artwork that my kids have left behind and it works like magic every time. I don’t have to scrub the marks, it just wipes it away like a pencil eraser. Its just great all-around product that can be used in any room and on almost any surface.
2. X-O Odor Neutralizer ($14 at amazon.com)
If you want to get rid of pet odors before visitors come over, try the X-O Odor Neutralizer. What I like about it, is that it’s the first air freshener I’ve used that doesn’t mask odors but actually eliminates the problem. I have several pets including two cats who have very smelly litter boxes and this is the only thing that works. Its all natural and definitely a must-have product, even if you don’t have pets and you just want to freshen up your bathroom.
3. Shout Color Catcher ($4.49 at drugstore.com)
To cut laundry time during the holidays, I’ve started using Shout Color Catcher. They are sheets that allow all colors of clothes to be wash together in the same load. They protect clothes from bleeding and work in all water temperatures. So now when I’m short on time, I don’t have to worry about washing separate loads of whites, darks etc. I can just throw it all into the washing machine and move on to my next task. Its really a time-saver especially if you have a big family and have to wash a large amount of clothes.
4. Baseboard Buddy ($24.99 at shop.baseboardbuddy.com)
Baseboard Buddy is another product that makes holiday cleaning easy. It’s a cleaning pad that has adjustable handle for hard-to reach spots. I just spray some cleaner on it and then I use to clean high shelves and get rid of cobwebs. I sometimes have back problems and this allows me to clean without bending or stooping. Its also great for kids because they can help clean without having to climb on a chair or stool.
Using the right cleaning products definitely takes the stress out of holiday cleaning.
