Is only semi-thick spotting a sign of pregnancy?
Q: I’m quite scared and I just wanted to know. I have recently noticed that the “Pull-out” method is not reliable. Now it has been 10 days after intercourse and my period is not due for another 3 weeks. Yesterday I had what I think may be spotting? It was period like blood that was enough to fill a pantyliner but not over flow. It had a few “gooey like chunks” as there are in my period& also releases as I go to the bathroom (Not nearly as much as my period though.) I usually get pretty bad craps the first 2-3 days of my period and there has been no cramping going on here.I have heard that implantation bleeding is very little and is a light brown/pink and many do not experience this or do not notice unless they wipe and see. The spotting(?) that I may be experiencing is a dark brown/red. I have also heard that bleeding can occur in a miscarriage but I am in no pain and it is only 10 days after intercourse (seems early to be be able to tell for that.)I have not experienced any other signs of pregnancy, no tender breasts, tiredness, backaches, morning sickness. I just wanted to know if you think this could mean pregnancy and what could it possibly be. Any advice is appreciated it. Thank you.
A: Implantation bleeding can occur after about 5 days after sex and can be anything from the light spotting usually no one really notices to as heavy as a regular period. The signs of pregnancy you mentioned are not the same for everyone, some people experience all of them and some people experience none of them its usually just what you normally experience during your period but the pain may be amped up a bit. Morning sickness usually doesn’t kick in until about week 6 and for a majority of people lasts until week 12. I would wait about a week or two and do a test or wait until you miss your period to tell. I got pregnant using the pullout method also, we were sort of trying to conceive but he just pulled out that time. I had bleeding that was way lighter than my actual period but I still used up about 2 pads/tampons. I didn’t have any abnormal pains during the first month or so. and I still haven’t gotten morning sickness and I am about 6 weeks along.Best Wishes too you!

I had a Mirena IUD put in a couple weeks ago. I missed my period the first month I had it in, could I have?
Q: been pregnant when they put the IUD in place? I was supposed to have a period within days of it being put in place. I’ve had nausea and some cramping and tenderness of skin which are my biggest pregnancy signs. My story is kind of complicated though because I have a 4 month old son and I got pregnant right after having him (while on the pill) and miscarried. We used condoms religiously after my D and C until they put the IUD in place. I can’t imagine why I would be pregnant, we have been SOOO careful but I NEVER miss my period unless I am pregnant. I’m extremely scheduled with my periods and they said that you shouldn’t start having lighter (or no) periods until after 3 months on Mirena. I’m now 3 weeks late on my period and I’ve only had the IUD for 3 1/2 weeks. Please help if you’ve dealt with this or know any answers! I am terrified to get pregnant again because I just went through a horrible miscarriage when I was on birth control and if this one fails I would just feel so hopeless
A: Mirena does bizarre things with your period. I haven’t had a period in over a year now with mine. I’ve sort of forgotten what it’s like. It’s unlikely that you are pregnant, but you could take a test just to be sure if you want to, but your doc should have requested that you be on your period when you had the insertion done (it’s easier, and ensures that you aren’t already pregnant) or at least should have done a quickie pregnancy test.
