Mother’s death unsolved. Any doctors here or anyone with higher intellect for Sepsis and other diseases?
Q: My mother died ironically on Mother’s Day back in 2001. I was ten when it happened. I remember parts of my childhood and can’t seem to turn to anyone for answers, because everyone thinks I’m full of BS. After she passed, I was to live with my grandparents back in Iowa when my mother and I lived in Florida. They either don’t know anything, or don’t want to tell me. My dad on the other hand, was never involved. They divorced before I was born, and wasn’t around much ever since. I’m tired of not knowing, remembering of course, but ignorant as to know the facts. I used to have to take care of her a lot. She walked around with an IV at one point before her passing. Here’s something I want/need to know so my memories can stop chasing my every thought…She had eleven cuts on her rear. I’m talking wide and deep. Five inches long and nearly to the bone. Five on one side, six on the other. She was a nurse practitioner, so she had medical equipment uses. I used to have to help her with surenges, and quite often, all that was sucked up in the surenge from her rear was puss. Greenish-cream white puss. We even uncovered a couple of clot looking things that were also green that protruded from her cuts. Is this a side effect from Sepsis? Or was this something else my family is covering for? What was the puss and green clot from?My father had once told me that she had AIDS and/or cancer. This wasn’t on her death certificate, so is it still possible she had it? She was a missionary and was injected shots to come back to the US from India, and the needles weren’t clean. That’s how she got sick. Can anyone help me?
A: This is not an answer but maybe it will help. My mother a very sweet and wonderful lady she died of sepsis. I put my mom in the hospital on July 11 2004 for memory loss and confusion. Every day i reported my concerns of my mothers health to any nurse that would listen. On July 15 2004 i was called to pick up my mom she was being released, and she was doing well and could go home. After her release i phoned her doctor several times with concerns and repeatedly asked if i should take her back to the hospital the answer every time being no. The next days were awful and in my heart i new something was wrong but i trusted the doctor. On July 17 2004 i called the ambulance and had my mom on her way back to the hospital trying to save her life. Shorty after her return i was told she was in multiple organ failure from sepsis and would die. This sweet mother of 10 including 3 sets of twins passed away on July 21 2004. What happen to my mom?. I will never understand and i miss her so much. I LOVE U MOM. Me

A: I’m also 15 and am 5’8″ and only 93lbs (was 85lbs!). I know how you feel I drink 10 Carnation Instant Breakfast Plus shakes (3750 calories) plus whatever food I can eat (at least 500 calories usually more) and I already lost 2lbs since being home from the hospital less than 2 weeks ago. The weight I gained was from the NG tube I was on in the hospital (not fun, don’t recommend it!). The doctors are still not sure what I have but are thinking maybe Crohn’s Disease (I have a lot of stomach problems along with weight loss). I have been through almost every test imaginable so a few main things that cause weight loss are hyperthyroidism, cystic fibrosis, or a malabsorption problem. I’ve never had a G tube but I would defiantly talk with your doctor before making that your final decision. Good luck! Hope this helps! =)
