Im pregnant, when am i allowed my risk assessment at work?
Q: I work in a restaurant on a childrens farm. We deal with a lot of Deliveries, Cleaning chemicals as well as sweeping and mopping a big space, Stressful customers, as its always busy, and im on my feet from 9 am till 6 in the evening, with 3/4’s of an hour break. I told my manager i was pregnant around 6 weeks ago, i had my 3 month scan this week, and i asked when am i able to get my risk assesment done. My manager replied saying, risk assessments are not usually done till 3 months, as people dont usually tell others their pregnant till 3 months, and that i should be having my risk assessment not next week but the week after. I didnt tell alot of people i was pregnant, but i felt my work had to know as it is such a physical job. Surely waiting 3 months is not right, and shouldnt they of taken action as soon as i told them i was pregnant, iv been having alot of painful stomach aches at work, and i researched this why i am having pains and what does it mean, the result was my muscles and ligaments are stretching and i need to take regular breaks. Which i havent been taking, as i didnt know that. I havent been told what i can and cant do at work, and i thought the first 3 months were very important, as its the most likely time i could have a miscarriage, from not taking pre cautions at work. And on top of that i have to wait another 2 weeks, its really upset me that i may be putting the health of my unborn child at risk, and they are not worried. I was told not to pick anything heavy up and watch out for certain chemicals, when i told my manager i was pregnant and i would find this out on my risk assessment, i am yet to know which chemicals. We work in a kitchen, and its vital its always clean, what if i have used some of these cleaning chemicals? Please can you help me? When should i of had a risk assessment? This is my first pregnancy, so i dont know about these things.
A: I work in a brewery and I have to do some pretty demanding work sometimes. I have worked there through out my first and some of this pregnancy. Anyhow I did what I always do. There really was no reason to stop. The baby is gonna stay in there. Unless you do something like fall really badly its not likely to come out. I lifted and ran around and swept. Those are normal stretching and growing pains they do not mean anything is wrong. Im currently laid off and not as active and I find them worse with this pregnancy bc of that. Tell them you need a break here and there. You don’t really need to wrap yourself in bubble wrap hon. It will be fine. It’s scary being pregnant with your first baby. A physical defect will cause a miscarriage not some physical activity. Believe me when you are in labour you will be having a much easier time than someone who wasn’t active,
Why do you think Madeleine’s Mum, Kate, did not answer 48 questions of the 200 put to her?
Q: Even the most vitrolic of her attackers admit that she started out answering every question but stopped when she was made a suspect.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1041635/The-48-questions-Kate-McCann-wouldnt-answer–did.htmlHeres what i think:Madeleine’s Mum, Kate’s precise answer to the Q why she does not answer the 48 questions, answers it all. IF the investigation thinks, WRONGLY, that she had harmed her child & was doing all it could to push the investigation down that path, the best thing she could do for her Madeleine was to jeopardise such an investigation, by not answering such questions. It makes perfect sense. For if, such an investigation succeeded, by twisting & misinterpreting her replies to those 48 rhetorical questions, in doing what it set out to do – to find Kate & Gerry guilty of harming their Madeleine, they would have been charged & arrested by now. And who then would search for their Madeleine???With the gullible public believing that Madeleine is no more, murdered by her parents who the court has found guilty, the case would be closed & she would be deemed as no more. Of what good would Kate be to her Madeleine then???Kate McCann did the right thing. At risk to her reputation but for the love of her child. Think about it people. Think laterally. What would YOU do, if God forbid, you were in her place??If you knew you were innocent of harming your child but if the investigating authorities were bent on accusing & charging you. They had already issued her a deal to admit that she had accidently harmed Madeleine, so she knew fully well where they were coming from. Imagine the choice she had to make…in a foreign country, her mind a traumatic mess filled with thoughts of her beloved missing child, faced with accusations that she harmed that child, then faced with a deal to confess to a crime she did not commit… the foremost thought in her mind would have been that these people are wasting time, precious time, barking up the wrong tree, when they could be searching for Madeleine. Naturally she would want to stop them in their tracks… especially since they are on the wrong track. Anyone would. Wouldn’t you???As much as it is the right thing to do, to co-operate with the authorities, when you know in your heart & soul, that the investigation is misguided, no sane person, in search of justice, would help such an investigation…especially when one’s own child’s life is at stake.Which explains why Madeleine’s Mum, Kate McCann rightly refused to answer those 48 questions, not just to prevent a miscarriage of justice against herself but also to set the investigation on its right path…to find her missing Madeleine.
A: Kate started answering the questions because she wanted them to have as much info as poss to aid the hunt for her daughter. When it became apparent that they thought she was responsible she stopped.Had she let them go down that track she knew the hunt would have been sent in completely the wrong direction. It’s that simple. She was told by not answering it would incriminate her but given the choice between jeapordising the search and incriminating herself any parent would have made the same choice. The Portugese lied about the blood in the car. These two people knew they didn’t do anything.Hearing this lie must heve sent alarm bells off that they were being set up and the hunt for Madeleine would end.Totally agree with you. There were people in the testing lab who’s DNA could have matched similarly. They should never have released that lie to the media and hung the McCanns in the public’s eye.The McCanns should sue them.
Work life balance and increased stress levels 15 weeks pregnant?
Q: HI Everyone. I am 15 weeks pregnant and I have a really really stressful job. I am busy all the time. I am not trying to make this bigger than anyone Else’s job or stress levels we all have those but just to give you a bit of background: I run a big company and we ‘play’ in high risk areas i.e one mistake can cost thousands and hundred thousands. I am working on the reporting structure but at the moment I am responsible for too many of these high risk don’t make mistakes tasks and managing clients, employees, partners and new business. Any given day is a 16 hour day and I also work weekends (more balanced though). I am also on the road alot visiting customers. I have my little cooler bag but like today I had to run workshops and could not eat properly other than snacking on dry fruit etc. The baby is fine (from last scan). But I am worried, it feels like I am playing with fire and should tone down alot – stick to an 8 – 5 exercise. The problem that I have is if I don’t do my part then people can loose their jobs and that is horrible – my biggest responsibility up to now was to put food on people’s tables, I do know that baby is no 1 now, any suggestions how I can balance the two? I am working on structures and stuff but all things take time. What can I do – I’m sure I am not the only one out there that had to go through this? I don’t want to be stupid and risk a miscarriage or prem birth! O and to make it worse, my husband is working away from home, I see him once a month so all the home stuff I do by myself as well without any support. PS: if you are wondering why I haven’t done anything sooner – we didn’t plan on having kids but we got blessed with a wonder full surprise! So I need to make a plan now asap. Thanks for the answers sofar! Problem is I am the boss, the buck stops with me so I can’t really say ‘taking long leave’ I also cannot say ok resigning now – its kinda my company…. it is such a bloody catch 22!!!! Baby is #1 but I won’t be able to afford a child if I screw up my job! Thanks for the answers sofar! A: If you can afford to do the 8-5 without jeopardizing your job I say go for it. If you feel fine and think you can do it I say go for it until it becomes a problem. Just make sure you eat during meeting breaks, in the car so you wont get hungry.
