My urethra is red and inflamed. It was biopsied and diagnosed as non-specific inflammation. Any suggestions?
Q: For the last 5 years the area immediately around the urethra of my penis has been red, inflamed, and painful to the touch. Prior to this I had been unable to retract my foreskin at all. I had the area biopsied and it was diagnosed as non-specific inflammation and not balanitis, cancer, or anything serious. Visually it looks exactly like the inflammation present with urethritis, but I had a sample taken and it came up negative.I’ve tried a variety of medications, from over the counter (Clotrimazole, bacitracin, rubbing alcohol [bad idea]) to several prescription antibiotics, including clobetasol and an oral antibiotic, the name of which escapes me. Nothing as worked and most treatments have only made it worse.I’ve avoided sexual content as a result of this, but it’s spread slightly over the last year or so and is becoming more and more of a concern. The dermatologist recommended a circumcision, believing that it might be caused by moisture buildup, but it was more “let’s try it and see what happens,” than a definitive diagnosis. As a result I’m hesitant to undergo such a drastic procedure.Does anyone have any suggestions at all? I’d really like to get this taken care of, but I’ve seen so many doctors and given so much differing advice that I really don’t know what to do? Has anyone had a similar experience and had it resolved? Any help would be appreciated.
A: you didn’t say how long ago the biopsy of the area was performed, but with a non-specific answer to that biopsy, and with a spreading of the condition, I’d suggest a second biopsy of the area. Often, conditions such as balanitis xerotica might be missed if the biopsy isn’t deep enough or if the condition hasn’t fully progressed to be diagnostic on the biopsy. Another culture of the area, to rule out candida, is in order, too.

I know that I am going to be accused of being repub-coserv-basher. I am not, I know the democrats have just as many scandals if not more. However, I think that the whole PLATFORM OF CONSERVATIVE FAMILY VALUES IS A DISINGENIOUS strategy to rally votes and to swing elections. THIS LIST DEMONSTRATES THE FACT THAT NO ONE PRACTICES WHAT THEY PREACH!!!I also believe that we are all human and everyone makes mistakes, but it is VERY HYPOCRITICAL to impose ideas that these “cultural-icons” don’t keep!(((What are your thoughts???)))))))
A: Yes, there are hypocrites in both parties and both parties should kick their hypocrites to the curb. That said, I believe the problem goes back to about thirty years ago when the right-wing religious coalitions hijacked the Republican Party. Since then, we’ve seen a steady shift from ‘fiscal conservatism’ to ‘social conservatism’. Barry Goldwater, a TRUE conservative had an opinion:http://www.liberalslikechrist.org/about/goldwater.html What we need is restoration of the balance of power to the branches of government, government accountability and INTEGRITY. Politics needs to get out of the business of legislating morality and let people alone to determine and live by their own ‘family values’.
what would be a good conclusion for this essay?
Q: Without proper care of the teeth and the gingiva, periodontal disease could easily take over anyone’s mouth and could possibly mean the end to the teeth. This serious disease can be prevented or treated at an early stage by simply brushing and flossing. Periodontal disease is an infection of the structures that surround the teeth. It begins with food debris and plaque not being brushed or flossed off and they turn into bacteria that worsens and leads to puffiness in the gingiva. Plaque must be taken off the teeth by brushing and flossing twice a day to prevent infection, but it only takes 24 hours for plaque to build up again. A few things that can lower your defenses, and help cause some form of periodontal disease, are: smoking, diabetes, stress, medicine, pregnancy, puberty, AIDS, HIV, cancer, and even diet, to name a few. Soda and certain types of food can also affect the teeth. Gingivitis is the first stage of periodontal disease. Most people do not find out they have this condition until a dentist advises them of it. Signs of gingivitis are: red gums, inflamed gums, bleeding while brushing and/or flossing, sensitive gums, possible bad breath, or bad taste. Gingivitis can easily be treated by brushing, flossing and using a mouth wash and no real pain is usually associated with gingivitis, which means that gingivitis is easily reversible with good oral home care and professional treatment. After gingivitis is left untreated, it can turn into mild periodontitis, moderate periodontitis, and finally advanced periodontitis. With time, plaque can build under the gum line and toxins can spread. The bacteria causes puffiness and redness, which is the body’s way of warning you something is wrong. Signs of these forms of periodontitis are: more pronounced bleeding, longer looking teeth, gum boils, abscesses, periodontal pockets, and mobility of the teeth. When some of these signs are reached, there might still be a chance of keeping the teeth if the person see’s a dentist as soon as possible and gets treatment, but this is when the structures that support the teeth are broken down and pretty much destroyed. After the disease is continually untreated, the teeth may become so mobile that they might have to be removed. This disease can affect anywhere from one tooth to all thirty-two teeth. After the age of 35, three out of four adults have some form of periodontal disease, which can lead to tooth loss. If treatment is needed, a root planing or a scaling might be the procedures to be considered. Scaling is a procedure to remove plaque and calculus around the tooth surfaces and root planing is the smoothing of the tooth surfaces to promote re-growth and reattachment of the gingiva to the tooth.
A: It is quite evident that taking good care of one’s teeth by routine brushing and flossing will prove to be beneficial to him or her in the long run. By taking pride in the teeth at an early age, tooth loss and other unpleasant, unhealthy situations of the mouth can be deterred.
