Hyperthyroidism?
Q: HI I have just been diagnosed with overactive thyroid, I have been given Propranol40mg and Proplthiouracil 50mg. Do you have this condition? and are you taking the same as I am, I would like to know how long before you felt better, also can you recommend a book that I could read up on this condition, I am nervous about this condition and if you have any info that will make me feel better I would appreciate it. Many thanks. (I am 44 female)
A: When I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, I was also put on Propilthiouracil (don’t remember the strength). Eventually, my thyroid level stabilized, and I then received radioactive iodine treatment. I was trying to have a baby and I couldn’t be on Propilthiouracil and be pregnant (major risk of birth defects). I now have hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) as a result of the iodine treatment (this is a very common side effect since it’s so hard to figure out the exact dose of radioactive iodine to perfectly normalize your level). I will be taking Synthroid (a synthetic thyroid hormone) for the rest of my life. But Synthroid is so safe that I was able to become pregnant and breastfeed with it. Good luck to you. (I was about 30 when I was diagnosed).
How to tell difference between Hyperthyroidism and Hypothyroidism without going to the Doctors?
Q: I dont have Medical insurance at this time, so going to the Doctor isnt an option.I could buy Thyroid medication online, but I dont know if I have Hypo or Hyperthyroidism. So my question is: How do you tell the significance between the two?
A: THYROID AND PARATHYROID GLANDS:Under-working leads to rickets, convulsions, teeth problems, twisting of muscles, fatness and dullness.Overworking leads to over-growth, bulging of the eyes. Adam’s apple, stone[s] in kidneys etc.Mistaken diagnosis may lead to confused symptoms due to wrong medication. The best way is to go in for acupressure techniques to regulate the functioning of thyroid glands. Herbal remedies and tissue salt remedies have time tested formulae. With best compliments from www.saioam.com
Has anyone ever been treated with RADIOACTIVE IODINE for Hyperthyroidism?
Q: If so what were the side effects of the treatment and do you think it worked. AS opposed to taking tapizole or methimazole. If you are a woman how long did you have to wait to have children after the treatment? Would you recommend it and would you have had the treatment done (from the beginning) now knowing the after effects?
A: My Mom had that and she said that it was just a pill the she had to swallow. As far as having children you need to talk to your doctor and don’t be afraid to ask him questions, that is what they are there for.
