A: It’s been a while since I saw the reference, but I recall seeing that the metabolism of protein was less efficient than fats or carbs, thus leading to a SLIGHT (probably negligible) difference over the long term. The protein eater would lose slightly more weight.

Q: ….it’s long, but there’s some backstory….then my question 🙂 I’m a 27 year old female, a month ago I weighed 244lbs. Today I weighed in at 227lbs. A few years ago a gyno suggested I had PCOS based off of some of the signs I showed (She didn’t do an exam at the time) such as excessive facial hair, dark hair on my belly, irregular/missed periods, hair loss…etc. They checked my thyroid, it was okay. I had a period about all summer last summer, it stopped in Nov’ish and I had not had one until the first week in February…….when I changed my diet. On Feb 2, I started the South Beach Diet…I decided to do this due to the readying I’d done on PCOS and its link to insulin resistance. I KNOW I should go to a doctor, lack of insurance for one has been a reason why I haven’t…..and I also wanted to see if diet/exercise could help me.On day three of no carb/no sugar of phase 1, I started bleeding. And have not stopped. After the loss of the initial water weight I’ve lost about 5 more pounds within three weeks. …….I’m just wondering about the link between the weight loss/change in diet and the constant bleeding. Is this on its way to normalizing? Will the continual weight loss eventually lead to a normal cycle and the disappearance of other PCOS symptoms? How much weight will I need to lose? A: Hi !Wow, how strange ! My sister went through the same thing ! She is very over weight and had a sever kidney infection, so she had to stay at the hospital. The Drs said it was because she was drinking too much soda, but anyway, she had PCOS and it went away!My sister had a baby and did not have her menstrual cycle for 1 year ! She had the kidney infection way after her delivery and obviously lost weight while in the hospital with her kidney infection. She says she has a normal menstrual cycle now, and she lost 30 pounds.
