The innkeeper there runs a clean place and will sure to have a room waiting by the time you arrive if you leave word here.”“Yes, that would be splendid thank you kindly.” Dusk replied.“Right, the post on the other side of town will be expecting you in the morning then sir go ahead and pass.” And at that the guard wave two fingers to the top of the wall and the door groaned in distaste as it slowly pulled from the ground leaving a fresh trough where it has dug away the earth before. “Right then, enjoy your stay sir,”At that Dusk threw himself into the city buzz working his way through many sorts of people beggars, merchants, aristocrats, and children chasing chickens and getting into trouble with their parents for ruining someone’s stand of goods. When dusk was small he liked chasing bigger animals on his farm like goats and pigs just to show of what he could do.Shaking all previous thought from his head a merchant in fine red and brown clothes grabbed him by the arm flourishing massive quantities of rocks and stones claiming them to be magical and rare, but when he did so Dusk saw a young woman down the road get bustled into what looked to be an ally way by two big men and they didn’t look like they were the talking type.Slipping from the merchant’s grip he quickly made his way to the ally down the road bumping into people along the way muttering apologies as he went. One woman spat at him as he shot by getting ready to turn the corner.Dusk slowly put his eye around the corner tying to see what was happening and to his surprise the two men were on the ground with bruises already forming and one seemed to have a broken arm. About to go in and investigate a little further and to find the mystery woman when he felt a hand grab his shoulder and spun him around and there stood the woman a few inches shorter than him but had a gaze through here brown hair that made him freeze.“What are you doing?” she snapped.Dusk was at a loss for words then he remembered the scene on the way into the ally.“How did you do that?”He murmured “They were going to hurt you.”The woman laughed “Men are easily ruled by their crotch which makes them stupid. Also it doesn’t help that they weren’t smart to begin with,” she let him go and relaxed some and her appearance changed altogether when the cold stare left her face. She was beautiful. “I guess I should thank you for watching out for me. Not many would come to the aid of a stranger.” She smiled and started to walk away.“Wait, Can’t I know your name?” He called after her and as she turned some of the tension came back to her face.“Why? You may never see me again and it would be pointless.” She gestured.“If that is true then you won’t mind me asking, right?” Dusk said with a raised brow. She looked as if she was going to walk away without another word when she turned her head again and spoke, “Selene.” And at that she took off into the swirl of people and was impossible to follow in such a crowd.He stood there a moment stunned at what just happened. The only times he heard of anything like this was in a story, but soon the real world came crashing back as people bumped him out of there way yelling at him to move.Dusk shook his head and started walking with the crowd as thoughts came back to him of what he was doing before all of this happened like going to the ‘Dragons Brew’ at the other side of town.
