Will Vitamin C supplements improve my vision?

Q: I have pretty bad eyesight, for a while it was getting worse every year….I haven’t gone to the eye doctor in like 3 years or so because the military insurance I get through my husband doesn’t cover eye care for spouses and we can’t find anyone to do a simple exam for under $500. I was told if you take a lot of vitamin C it will improve your vision…if I take enough could my eye sight get better or is the damage already done? I was contemplating Lasik but I wanted to try this first if it works.
