Petechiae and swollen lymph node–symptoms of what?

Q: I have really scattered (or just not clustered) red pinpricks (I think they’re called petechiae–correct me if I’m wrong)–I didn’t go to the doctor because I thought then there wasn’t any cause for alarm. They started few, which I thought would go away eventually, but instead they have multiplied (not to the point of having a lot every square inch though). Then I’ve been having aches in the neck lymph node area–they subside and come back, and sometimes I don’t feel the ache except when I touch te spot, but it aches all the same. Does anyone know of any condition with symptoms like these?

A: Go to a Doctor. There are conditions with symptoms like this arranging from mild to severe so why wonder right? Few blood tests you will know for sure, the sooner the better, it seems you have waited enough just to see if this was just a sporadic situation and somewhat it seems to have escalated. You have proven you are not an alarmist I believe its time to act.

A: Now honey, calm down. Whatever it is, CAN be treated. It’s only normal to be frightened. Do you have any itching? night sweats? I started out with a lump at the base of my neck and everything else came on fast. But, you know what? I’m OK now. Treatment sucked, I’m not going to lie to you, but it sure beats cancer. A: I am a Hodgkin’s lymphoma patient. Definitely go to the doctor and ask them to check you over. Not every lymphoma patient experiences symptoms, but some of the most common are:Painless swollen node(s)FatigueFeversNight SweatsWeight LossItchy SkinLoss of appetiteYou should most definitely get your self checked out, you do have potential symptoms of both Hodgkin’s and Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Though, most swollen lymph nodes are caused by infection and other less serious complications. Your doctor will likely want to first check your blood, to see if they believe you have an infection and possibly try some antibiotics. They might want to do an X-ray to see if there are swollen nodes in your chest too. If the antibiotics don’t start to clear up your symptoms or they get worse, you may have to have your lymph node biospsied. It’s the easiest way to see if an inflamed node is malignant or benign. Please don’t put this off. I was only 24 when I was diagnosed with lymphoma. Most lymphomas, if caught early, have very good survival rates (over 80%) I hope that you are simply experiencing some sort of infection…good luck to you.
