Q: I know its a cliche question but its beyond important, if answered definitively it has the power to change the way we function in the world and how we behave from then on.My question has to be boiled down to a few bullet points:Let’s not get into semantics about how advanced like is or how far away or how dense or sparse the population of the universe might be, we already know from our own evolution that technological advancement happens very fast and in less than 10 centuries you can go from rural society to space travel. So lets just assume there is a very wide variety of life out there from super advanced aliens that can cloak entire planets or space stations and travel effortlessly across the universe to simple microbial inhabited planets with little or no need to interact with other civilizations.1. Would contact be a good thing with any alien, advanced or simple? Would it alter our own views too much and set off a chain reaction ending in the dissolution of the human spirit of discovery?2. Would it be better for us, best case scenario they enlighten us on a higher understanding of life and the universe and this would allow us to follow a more meaningful path in life?3. Would it make very little difference either way?
