My brother says “cigars” are not that bad compared to Cigarettes and marijuana?
Q: He claims because you don’t inhale cigars, they aren’t as bad as marijuana and cigarettes. Marijuana isn’t always inhaled. And chewing tobacco isn’t even smoked and it causes severe damage to the mouth if miss used. Anybody have any solid evidence on this question?Well some dumnasses put it in food and shit..i think thats a rumor but i am not sure…looking at this from all angles…and he says no one has prooved it yet….We know the cigar is not inhaled and is safer than cigarettes. What about marijuna? It is said to be inhaled but to have no man made products stuffed into it, and doing it certain ways..is better than smoking a cigar…
A: The FDC try to use scare tactics to scare people away from all tobacco products. Cigars can be harmful. A few famous cigar smokers have died from cancers of the mouth and the throat. Most of the notable ones though smoked upwards of 10-25 large cigars a day. One famous line that the FDC infamously throws out is that cigars have more nicotine than cigarettes. The FDC is correct with this claim. It is incredibly misleading though and a stupid thing to say to people while leaving out something far more important. If people crammed cigarettes in their mouths and cigars in their mouths and swallowed them, yes they would get more nicotine from the Cigar. The thing is, the majority of the nicotine absorbed from smoking Cigarettes is in the lungs. Cigar smokers do not inhale(though they do absorb nicotine in the mouth). Nicotine in the mouth is absorbed at a much lower rate than in the lungs. You get far less nicotine from smoking cigars than you do cigarettes. Also, if you actually ever looked at the statistical data, cancer causing deaths from cigars compared to non smokers is only 1 to 1.02(a very low ratio) on two cigars a day. On 3 cigars a day, it goes up somewhat(still not anywhere close to cigarettes though). Don’t believe everything that the government tells you.
Compared to alcohol and cigarettes, what’s so bad about marijuana?
Q: –>there are much MUCH more deaths because of alcohol/tabacco–>cigs are more addicting, both alcohol and weed can be addicting but not a whole lot? honestly.. im not for any of it but its weird that 2 are legal only. from my view, i think they should either all be legal, or all be illegal.
A: Its good to see that people are beginning to have a more tolerant attitude toward personal cannabis use. However, I do not think all three should be banned. I do believe in personal choice and individual liberty. We have the right to make our own choices concerning ourselves. But to give you a more straightforward and credible answer, here is a quick pharmacology summary of all three:Alcohol: Serves as a central nervous system (CNS) depressant that can cause death when as little as 4 times the intoxica.tion dose is ingested. It slows heart and brain rates, eventually resulting in cardiac arrest, coma, choking on vomit, or simply stopping respiration. In moderate amounts, alcohol can be very beneficial actually showing a slight neuroprotective tendency. Studies show people who drink 1-2 drinks of alcohol a day have lower rates of heart disease, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease. However, alcohol is very addictive both physically and mentally and alcoholism is a potentially deadly disease that can result in cirrhosis of the liver (permanent replacement of liver tissue with swollen, fatty scar tissue).Nicotine: An alkaloid that functions as a pesticide and is found mainly in plants of the tobacco and to a lesser extent coca variety. In mammals, it functions as a stimulant in small amounts, but at slightly larger doses it is a deadly neurotoxin with an LD50 (the dose at which 50% of administered test subjects die) calculated at only 40-60mg in humans. The LD50 of cocaine in comparison is 500mg in humans, about 100 times less lethal than nicotine.Additionally, nicotine has its own carcinogenic properties in addition to those of burning organic plant matter. There are nicotine receptors in the throat and upper airways that are activated and serve to protect cells that are damaged by the smoke. These cells should initiate something called apostosis or cell programmed death. This is where the damaged cell commits suicide and dies so new healthy cells can replace it. Nicotine causes these cells to live on, usually they mutate due to DNA damage and exposure to mutagens (chemicals that cause mutation in DNA, often carcinogens). These cells then can form tumors in the lungs and throat, fusing of the alveoli, and chronic emphazema.Marijuana in comparison is relatively harmless. The active ingredient, delta-9 tetrahydracannabinol, or THC, is technically safer by weight than water (this does not really mean that it is safer than water, it just means that if the same amount of water were introduced to your body, your cells would swell, burst, and die). The estimated LD50 of THC is 1500 hundred pounds of marijuana smoked within 15 minutes, a feat that is physically impossible to accomplish within the timeframe and without dying from suffocation.Lets recap the “safety ratio” that is the effective dose and the LD50 dose.Alcohol 1:4 (meaning you only have to drink 4 times as much as you would normally drink to intoxication and death would occur about 50% of the time)Cocaine 1:15Heroin 1:6THC 1:1000 (meaning you have to smoke 1000 times the normal amount)Evidence shows marijuana is much safer in the body than other commonly used substances. Even concerns about lung cancer have been put to rest by clinical trials that show THC inhibits lung tumor growth and is also one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory airway dilators known. Smoking weed can actually stop an asthma attack by opening the bronchial tubes and small airways.Clearly if anything should be illegal based on health concerns, it should be nicotine and alcohol, physically drugs like cocaine and heroin are better for you and less destructive than alcohol and nicotine. However, the social destructiveness of cocaine and heroin abuse should not be ignored.Marijuana use on the other hand does not lead to addiction, tolerance builds slightly over long periods of constant use but remains lower than most all other drugs. Marijuana has been shown not to be a gateway drug and also causes no social harm on a user level.Legalization would bankrupt the cotton and paper industries as industrial hemp is better for both applications. For paper, 1 acre of hemp is equivalent to 4.1 acres of trees. Hemp also is also one of the fastest and densest growing plants in the world making it one of the few actually profitable biodiesel sources. If legal, hemp would be the most desirable crop due to myriad applications and yield. Not to mention that cannabis seeds, which are often used in bird seed (sterilized so they cannot be grown) are second only to soy as a source of high quality plant based proteins and essential fatty acids. The leaves can even be eaten in salads as a source of chlorophyll and fiber.Clearly marijuana is the safest choice. When eaten, the arguable health risks of smoking are eliminated. Oral ingestion of marijuana is completely safe in every known way. People have been consuming it in various forms since prehis
is Marijuana bad for you?
Q: •Gateway to other drugs? Yes this is true, those who have tried and liked weed have a greater chance of trying other harmful drugs.•Bad for your heath? No, Marijuana is not bad for you, however it is not good for you ether. Anything sucked into your lungs that’s not oxygen or air can harm your lungs. However your lungs have built in filters, they clean themselves slowly. If you accidentally breathe in some dust from a sand storm do you think that it stays in your lungs for the rest of your life? •Marijuana has thousands of chemicals? Yes, now this seems scary, but did you know that the coffee you drink every morning has almost the same amount!?!•Alcohol and cigarettes are worse? YES, yes, yes, yes, there have been no recorded deaths from marijuana. Unlike alcohol and cigarettes which kill millions of people each and every year. •Can screw up your life? Well… yes this is somewhat true… but it is not the marijuana that screws up your life, it’s (sounding like a hippy) the damn government. Since marijuana (a harmless depressant) is illegal, if you’re caught you will be thrown in jail, once you’re thrown in jail it’s hard to obtain a job, no job, no money no money can’t support a family, life ruined. If marijuana was legal you would have been just fine? Right?•Legalization of marijuana? Good idea right? If its legal then no one will be thrown in jail and have there life messed up. Yes this is true no one will be thrown in jail but remember that marijuana in a gateway to other addicting – make you a vegetable harmful – drugs. So with marijuana illegal many people are not even trying it so then supposedly there not trying other dangerous drugs. Overall less vegetable people •Addicting? For some yes and some no, but it’s all about how often and how much. Hell you can get addicted to just about anything including water!!! So then the question is how easy is it to get addicted to marijuana? Well compared to cigarettes it’s not that easy; marijuana is usually a mental addiction v.s. a physical addiction. Mental addiction is like potato chips, you have one you want another, it tasted good, but you’ll be just fine without another one. Physical addiction is like the addiction you get from the magic cancer sticks (cigarettes) where when you try to stop, you feel sick, your muscles ache, your depressed, have head aches, everything around you pisses you off, you don’t care about anything, your tired, stubborn, and the list goes on. Then once you take that one hit of nicotine (active ingredient in cigarettes) it all goes away, you feel great. However remember that the more you smoke marijuana the better looking that potato chip will become more and more until it really feels like a physical addiction, when all you can think about is the next joint. But this would only happen after years of smoking constantly.•Moderation? With the knowledge of the real dangers of other drugs, marijuana can be well enjoyed in moderation, just like alcohol. Not so much cigarettes. There is no such thing as moderation for cigarettes.•Increases the risk of heart attack? Yes it may, may being the key word there, however many things cause hard attack such as coffee, a well known and enjoyed beverage though out the world. Heart attacks (at lest this is what a doctor told me) are cause by your blood cells becoming too hard, eventually they become so hard that your heart can no longer pump them… thus a heart attack.•Bad marijuana? YES! If you buy marijuana, be sure you know where it’s been and how it was grown. You will have no idea that you’re breathing in some dangerous stuff. •Destroys social life? This is back to moderation. In scientific studies the people that are tested are highly abusive smokers, every day every minuet, as much as they can get. If these people were using alcohol instead of marijuana, they wouldn’t be able to move, drive, walk, talk, ANYTHING. So this is all about moderation. •Bottom line? Research before hand, even on the simplest things. And if you want to smoke marijuana ether wait till its legal or smoke where you are 120% sure you won’t be caught. And remember moderation!this is my researchtell me what you think is wrong…
