Do people who have visual hallucination see those hallucinations interacting with REAL people?

Q: This is for research purposes. I’d also like to know more about what causes these hallucinations. By that I mean NOT what causes the mental illness but what sparks each episode. Any book or website recommendations that can elaborate on this? Thank you in advance?

A: I just want to add that not all people with psychosis experience the type of visual hallucinations you are describing. In my case I rarely see what looks like people. Usually I just see sparks of lights or a wavy pattern of lines, but sometimes I still do see people. I tend to see these “people,” out of the corner of my eye most of the time. Nonetheless when these phenomenon do happen I still have a hard time telling if they are real or not. I’ve never seen mine interact with real people. I would be really scared if they did. Of course I’m still scared as it is, but what can I do? Ciao!

A: Two quick stories:A bunch of us took acid on the 4th of July. I saw a pencil bend that day. My friend and I played in a water sprinkler for 45 minutes, because the reflection of the light in the water was so brilliant, you could see so many colors, and the water looked like jewels. It was like we were playing in a fountain of brilliant diamonds. Everything tasted like cardboard, so we barely ate. I was lying in a hammock, studying the colors of the leaves, when I looked over and saw the lawn was on fire in two places. My friends were trying to stamp out a small fire while behind them, a larger one raged on. Both of these fires were real–we were playing with sparklers and it had been a very dry summer. In my mind, though, the fire was much larger than it actually was and I freaked out. I couldn’t speak, I shouted out unintelligible syllables, and then I fell out of the hammock and laid on the ground and watched them battle the fires.Another time, I was taking shrooms with my college roommate and some friends she’d met in our dorm. I never did really hallucinate like I did on the acid, but suddenly I felt bold and invincible. I couldn’t stand just to sit in the room and talk to everyone anymore, so I started wandering the halls. I passed by a room where the door was open, and “Fawlty Towers” was on the tv. I saw a pair of man’s legs and feet on a couch, but not who they belonged to. I was so excited about seeing that show, I marched into the room without knocking and said, “Fawlty Towers? OMG I LOVE Fawlty Towers!” The guy on the couch sat up. He was the guy I’d been crushing on hard for a couple of weeks but had been having trouble talking to. He smiled and said, “You want to watch it with me?” We had an amazing evening of watching British comedies and chatting and laughing, and we ended up dating for a year and a half. He just thought I was bold. He never knew I was tripping.

Q: A woman was slapped by her husband on her face,she had difficulty hearing for two days.quarreling and fighting was quite common in her house.Recently she fell down and injured her back.she is taking medicines for the backpain. She is having 102 deg temp and doctors couldnt find why she is having the temp,and why its not comingdown. Basic routine medical test she has taken in the begining.Now she is getting hallucination and showing,fear and anxiety. Suspecting indication of Mental imbalance.She was very energetic and hard to believe to see her in this condition. What could cause this mental breakdown?

A: Have they looked for meningitis? As for the hallucinations, an extreme lack of sleep because of pain can cause that. Very rare, but I mention it because the doctors will tend not to think of it, is an attack of porphyria induced maybe by infection. Routine tests will not identify porphyria, only specialized lab work.
