Lake Charles is known as the festival capital of Louisiana. Christmas makes no exception for the city. If anything, Christmas means that there are more festivals than usual. Here is a guide to Christmas festivals that are in Lake Charles during December 2011.

Gallery by the Lake’s Original Art

Every day from 5pm to 8:30pm, 50 pieces of original art will be exhibited and also be for sale. There will also be music and demonstrations. The art is also tax free. Central School’s Holiday Open House

Frame House Gallery’s Plaid Art Show

For a break from the traditional Christmas celebrations, although there is certain to be Christmas theme works, Frame House Gallery is hosting a plaid art show from 5:30pm to 9:30pmpm on December 8, 2011. Breakfast with Santa

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Ballet

There is an 11am matinee and a 6pm gala. Tickets for children are $10 and tickets for adults are $15. The ballet is performed by the Lake Charles Civic Ballet and is held at the Lake Charles Cic Center. For more information call (337) 802-5779. Children’s Museum Christmas Activities
December 17-30, 2011
The Lake Charles Children’s Museum is found at 327 Broad St. in Lake Charles, LA. It can be contacted for more information by calling (337) 433-9420.
On December 17 from 11am to 1pm, children can meet Santa! Before or after meeting Santa, children can make a Rudolph candy cane.
On December 19 at 11am, there will be a Christmas reading. At noon and 1pm, a workshop on how to build a gingerbread house out of graham crackers will be held.
From December 20-23. and Dec 26-30, Christmas readings will be held at 11am. Art activities will take place at noon and 1pm. On December 20, Christmas place mats will be made. On December 21, foam Christmas trees will be made. On December 22, candy cane crafts will be made. On December 23, Christmas boxes will be made. On December 26, rain sticks will be made. On December 27l the Mad Hatter Science show will be held at 11am. Then fairy wings will be made at noon and at 1pm. On December 28, tambourines, boomerangs, and lanterns will be made. On December 29, fairy wings and wands will be made. On December 30, crowns and tiaras will be made.
