As the dog days of summer start to fade, ushering in the warm glow of the fall season, there are a variety of craft fairs and local festivals in and around the Los Angeles area for the whole family to enjoy.

Pasadena Festival of the Arts September 17 and 18, 2011

An all ages “Celebration of Creation” that will feature hand-crafted art, gourmet goodies and live music. Location: Paseo Colorado, Rose Parade Route 66, Pasadena, 10:00 A.M.

Brewery Artwalk October 1 and 2, 2011

Free twice annual event featuring over 100 local artists. Meet artists, painters, and sculptors of the Brewery Arts Colony, and buy art at studio prices. Location: The Brewery, 2100 N. Main Street, Downtown Los Angeles, 11:00 A.M. – 6:00P.M.

Los Angeles Latino Book and Family Festival October 8 and 9, 2011

A Latino Literacy Now event held during Hispanic Heritage month. Highlights include author readings, seminars, ethnic food, health screenings, and a children’s stage. Location: Greenlee Plaza, California State University, Los Angeles, 10:00 A.M.

Los Angeles Costume Swap October 9, 2011

Find this years Halloween costume, and do something good for the environment at this eco-friendly costume swap. Activities for adults, kids and teens and a “Trashion” contest. Early birds can drop off gently used costumes Sunday, September 11, 2011, and receive a goodie bag. Location: Mar Vista Farmers Market, (Grandview at Venice Boulevard) Los Angeles, 9:00 A.M – 2:00 P.M.

Brentwood Autumn Art Show October 23, 2011

A one day only extravaganza for the entire family, featuring fine arts, crafts, international food, live entertainment and activities for children. Location: San Vicente Blvd. (at Bundy), Brentwood, 10:00 A.M.-6 P.M.

Halloween Harvest Festival September 23 through October 31, 2011

Seventh annual all ages arts and crafts festival. There is something for everyone to enjoy, including hay rides, rock climbing, pony rides, a 6-acre corn maze, and haunted attractions. Location: Los Angeles Pierce College Farm Center, Woodland Hills, Sunday – Thursday 10:00 A.M. – 10:00 P.M., Friday – Saturday 10:00 A.M. – Midnight.

Whether it is a hayride or a taste of something exotic, autumn is the perfect time to get out with the family and experience some of the local arts and attractions that Los Angeles has to offer.
