You may not want to see the bathroom creation that Martha Stewart is all-too-anxious to show visitors in her Westchester, New York home.
According to a tell-most autobiography from daughter, Alexis Stewart, the crafting queen has little discretion when it comes to her bathroom habits.
“Mother always peed with the door open,” she said.
The turnabout in the traditionally-uptight Stewart’s attitude seems to apply exclusively — and universally — to making waste. According to Alexis, mom still had signs at each entrance, reminding visitors to remove their shoes.
“Mother’s dogs p*** and s*** on the rugs and she’s telling people to take their shoes off,” Alexis wrote.
Bathroom etiquette is definately the lighter side of Stewart’s revelations about her 70 year-old mother.
In an interview with the DailyMail, Stewart,46, repeatedly refers to her mother as ‘Martha,’ and in her satirical new book, paints the craft queen to be anything but motherly.
She said that even now, she rarely invites Martha to dinner, saying, “whatever I serve, she’ll sip it, taste it, make a face, and push it away.”
Like most children who write books exposing their famous parents, Stewart told the DailyMail that Martha had a “hands-off” approach to mothering.
“There was never anything to eat at my house,” she mused. “There were ingredients but no prepared food of any kind.”
While the decor for holidays such as Christmas and Halloween may have been spot-on, Alexis says that mom didn’t exactly share in the spirit of the festivities.
“There were no costumes. There was no anything,” she said of a traditional Stewart Halloween. “We turned off all the lights and pretended we weren’t home.”
Other revelations contradicting her mother’s public persona, Alexis says, include untruths about chaning her own bed sheets, and that Martha is a pack-rat who has amassed hundreds of tablecloths.
“Whateverland: Learning to Live Here,” is not a slight to Martha, according to the DailyMail, who assures readers that mother and daughter are still on good terms.
