Omaha Man Missing

An Omaha, Nebraska man is missing. Forty-eight-year-old Lyle Augustine was last heard from on Wednesday, November 16, when he left a voicemail on his daughter’s cell phone around midnight. His family is desperate for help from the public in locating him and organized a search party which is currently taking place in Omaha.

John Augustine, Lyle’s son, said his father had knee surgery last summer and required the assistance of a cane which was found at the man’s home. Also left behind were Augustine’s shoes, coat, wallet and cell phone. In addition, Augustine is blind in one eye and has poor vision in the other. The family considered that perhaps he went looking for his dog which was found Thursday, but Augustine’s son said, “I don’t think he would of went that far because of his bad knee and he doesn’t have his cane.”

John Augustine said his sister, Jackie Augustine, celebrated a birthday on Monday which came and passed with no word from their father. Thanksgiving then passed, and a formal missing persons report was made with the Omaha Police Department on Friday. Augustine does have a roommate, but that person has no information on where Augustine might be.

About his father, John Augustine said, “He’s a really big Notre Dame fan, born and raised in South Bend, IN. He’s a very friendly and caring man, the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back to help out. He is also about to be a grandpa, as my sister is 9 months pregnant and her due date is here in a couple weeks.”

Only one local news station has reported on this story so far, and questions are being raised about the lack of publicity in this case, especially considering Augustine’s medical problems. Anyone who may have any information is asked to call (402) 813-0515 or contact the Omaha Police Department.
