That is an irregular heartbeat. If it only lasts for a few seconds it should be nothing to worry about. If it lasts long you should have it checked out. Everyone gets irregularities once in a while. Source(s): njj

Irregular Heartbeat?
Q: Ok so I am only 15. I have been suffering what I would call severe panic attacks (sometimes I’m up all night) for about a year. So recently for about 3 months I have had what I think might be some kind of irregular heart beat. It usually always happens before I go to bed (which is when I get the most anxiety). It will basically feel like my heart, or something in my chest is vibrating. Sometimes it feels close to my arm pit. This is very annoying and for the past week I have been losing a whole lot of sleep over it. I am what you might call a hypochondriac, but I really think their might be something wrong. I have asked my mom to take me to the doctor, but she is tired of taking me there, since I just went there about a month ago, and forgot to mention it because I didn’t think much of it. So I guess what I am wondering is do you think I should go to the doctor, do you think it might be an irregular heartbeat, and if so do you think it might be caused from my anxiety?
A: You have given a very clear and honest description of your problem here- it is encouraging to read that you accept yourself as an anxious person.Anxiety can certainly cause an irregular heartbeat.Equally, an irregular heartbeat can cause a lot of anxiety.Either way, it sounds as if you need help and discussing this with your parents and your doctor is the best way forward. Try to relax and see if this reduces the irregular heartbeat.Good luck
Why are some first aid/ER hospital types & police so unhelpful and rude, even when you’re having a crisis?
Q: I had a rapid heartbeat/arrythmia episode which scared me, and I couldnt’ walk far, so I went back to my car and called for help just to check me out, etc. The cops came first who acted very cocky and arrogant with me, and were more concerned about stupid bs than actually helping me and making me feel good. they also looked at me weird, like you could tell they didn’t care and were total Aholes. Then came more cops over to talk to me, and they gave me some oxygen, which immediately made me feel relaxed and calmer, but when they were talking with me they basically looked at me like they hated me or didn’t like me, and same with the other cops. they looked a bit bitter, and just kinda like, they didn’t want to deal with me for whatever reason. Whenever I asked them a quesstion, they would always answr with some smart witty or condescending remark too.I asked them how long , like an estimate, would it take for the rescue squad people to come, and the guy goes “Look….they’re volunteers…so they can take their dear old time.”That’s not exactly something a person in panic wants to hear. Why the attitude? Why the intentional not caring Ahole way of speaking to me? Why the rudeness? At the hospital it was a bit more professional at least when you dealt with the actual doctors/nurses. but the registrar people were d9cks as well as the doorman, and some of the people in the waiting room just had to be so friggin evil, mean and rude.I had an irregular heartbeat /arrythmia, and was just…out of breath couldnt walk…whatever…they pretty much even let me go and drive to the ER by myself! lol. They just seemed so unhelpful and So uncaring, and even took their dear old time backing out of the parking spot which I was at, and to make matters worse, they beeped at me a few times just because I forgot to put my seatbelt on,,..like that was the most IMPORTANT THING! Let alone me having a possible heart attack or asthma attack or fainting or whatever…..which they didn’t seem to give a hoot about, but my seatbelt, whwatever.+ this was at a mall, and they basically like just joked around with each other like “hey mack what are u doing today after work?” “Oh forget work, lets go shopping!” they seemed like they were making fun of me, mocking me or whatever.Did I deserve that? Or the attitude? Also I was driving my commuter car, A cool sporty looking dodge, and they were like “They told me u said u were driving a dodge pick up truck, i was like i dint think they made those,,”” I was like> “yeah lol, maybe, I dunno but I definitely don’t have one of those as you can tell lol.” Tried to joke around and he just gave me a blank expression, like…he just didn’t even want to deal with me, or even remotely engage in conversation. What the F*Ck is wrong with people? Jes8s, for real.I’m asking this in law & enforcement just because the police were involved and are often co-involved with first aid squads, paramdedics, etc,..especially in emergencies, thought I could get first hand on…..why the attitude problems? It makes us…the victim or the person in help feel VERY uncomfortable. It’s not very professional. If those people don’t like me for whatever their st-pid tr@shy reasons are, fine, but don’t bring it to work. Can’t they leave their baggage at home?it’s really irritating.I even once had a tow guy for my car show up and just like totally not want to work with me and help me at all. These blue collar or government workers or law enforcement people don’t like me.I’m mid-20, long blonde hair, rocker type, but I can also be clean cut and be the corporate type, and I’m gay/bi.Maybe that’s it but hey, can’t they leave their judgements at home? It’s RUDE!it’s almost like they wish you did d9e, im telling u , teh way they act.
A: Wow, you’re long winded. I can see by the length of your post that it was obviously very important to you. However, when you see it everyday, you become a bit detached. The officer attempting to make small talk with you got you to joke back with him about your vehicle. It was a cue to them that you were calm and probably a good indicator that your level of distress was quite low. That doesn’t mean you don’t need help, but you have to understand that it didn’t appear life threatening and therefore the level of urgency that would have made you “feel better” was left out. Is this a reflection of “lack of professionalism?”… certainly. Is it a reflection of “lack of competence?” … certainly not. You had a lot of people tending to you. You were dissatisfied with their “expressions” and small talk amongst themselves. I hate to tell you, because you obviously don’t want to hear it, but you need to get over it. They provided you the help they were required to provide you. Maybe they acted like assholes because they were indeed assholes. I don’t know. It really doesn’t matter. They gave you the help you needed. It is very hard… VERY HARD to be a compassionate Mother Theresa with every one who requests your assistance day in and day out. Not what you want to hear, I know, but it’s the honest truth. I assume that’s why you came here.
Irregular Heartbeats while pregnant? What is it!?
Q: I am 7 weeks pregnant and I started having irregular heartbeats at 5 weeks there getting worse I can feel them as well as hear them through my stethoscope and it kinda feels like a flip flop in my chest but its worse when I lay down its not painful just uncomfortable and I am so tired and I can’t even sleep b/c it keeps me awake I don’t get shortness of breathe but I do get a little dizzy then again I am not sure if its b/c of my heart or my pregnancy and My throat kinda hurts I just feel weak. I am going to call he doctor tomorrow But I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this feeling and same irregular heartbeats while pregnant and if so what did the doctors tell you it was???I hope someone can help me I am just scared!
A: This may not be true in your case, but my BFF developed a heart condition while she was pregnant that sounded a lot like that. It’s called arrhythmia. She just had to watch her diet and was on bed rest. As soon as she had the baby it resolved itself. Don’t freak out though. It could be something completely simple too. It’s good that you are going to your doctor. It may not be as bad as you think. Everything during pregnancy (especially your first) is pretty scarey. Whatever the case may be, they’ll take good care of you.
