how long it takes to train to be a cardiologist?

Go to medical school, become a general doctor, train for another 5 years, then do internships, then become a full blown cardiologist. I’d say about 12 years. Cardiologists are doctors, so you are looking at 8 years to become an MD plus probably 4 more to become a specialist.
