Computer Key Crocheted Bracelet

Recycle computer keys and turn them into a geeky crocheted bracelet. Spell out your name, a word or use a jumble of letters and numbers to create this one-of-a-kind bracelet.

Things You’ll Need:

Computer keys
Small screw eyes
Epoxy
Pearl cotton
Size C crochet hook
Scissors

Instructions:

Step 1 – Turn the chosen computer keys over so the hole is facing up.

Step 2 – Epoxy a small screw eye in each hole. Allow the epoxy to dry overnight before continuing.

Step 3 – Thread the computer keys on the pearl cotton.

Step 4 – Crochet a chain 12 to 14-inches long. The bracelet will tie onto your arm. Hold the chain around your arm or tie in place to determine the required length.

Step 5 – Single crochet in the second chain from the hook and in each stitch across. Turn.

Step 6 and 7 – Chain 1 stitch. Single crochet in each stitch across. Turn.

Step 8 – Determine the center of the crochet strip. The center computer key will be attached directly above this mark. Count the stitches to the center mark. Determine the amount of keys on one side of the center key. Multiply that number by 8. Subtract the answer from the center stitch count. For example, there are four letters on each side of the center key. Multiply 4 by 8 to get 32. The center of the strip is 100 stitches. Subtract 32 from 100. The answer is 68.

Step 9 – Using the example, chain 1 stitch. Single crochet in the first 67 stitches. Slide the screw eye on the back of the computer key to the shaft on the crochet hook. Single crochet in the next stitch. Single crochet in the next 8 stitches. Repeat the process until all computer keys are attached to the bracelet. Single crochet in the remaining stitches across. Turn.

Step 10 – 12 – Chain 1 stitch. Single crochet in each stitch across. Turn. Finish off after the final row.

Use the same process to add beads to a crocheted bracelet.
