Easy and Fast Mardi Gras Mask

Procrastination is prevalent in many individuals especially around Mardi Gras. This is not a good thing when it comes to making your own Mardi Gras mask. There is an answer though! Take a trip to your local hobby and craft store and pick up a plastic mask. Hobby stores sell plastic eye masks, half masks or full masks. Decorate the plastic mask in less than 30 minutes.

Things You’ll Need:

Newspaper
Plastic mask
Glitter
Sequence
Hot glue
Hot glue gun
Feathers

Instructions:

Step 1 – Cover a flat work surface with newspaper. Place the plastic mask on the newspaper.

Step 2 – Determine the location for the feathers on a full or half mask. Squeeze a line of hot glue on the edge of the mask in the pre-determined areas. Allow the hot glue to dry 3 minutes.

Step 3 – Hot glue glitter to the mask in a pre-determined patter. Squeeze short sections of hot glue over the design area. Shake the glitter onto the hot glue. Tip the mask and tap to remove excess. Repeat the process until all glitter areas are complete.

Step 4 – Hot glue sequence to the desired areas.

Step 5 – Add the feathers. Squeeze a marble size drop of glue directly in front of the dried line of hot glue. Insert the end of the feather or several feathers in the drop. Hold the feathers in place for 2-minutes. Repeat the process to attach additional feathers.

Step 6 – Squeeze a line of hot glue directly in front of the hot glue drops. Immediately shake glitter over the hot glue or press sequence into the area. This will hide the connection point of the feathers and add a sparkly band around the feather base.

Paint the mask with acrylic paint prior to starting the steps above. Paint is difficult to put on the mask once the decorating is complete.
