An evening’s provision of vintage,
Subtly luminous; reserved
For an intimate twosome.
A singular candle,
A solitary wine glass:
Defile and discolor
The amorous, green-shaded bottle.
The pallid, virgin candle:
Quietly blazes, mateless;
Its brightness destined to smother.
The thin-stemmed glass:
Indiscernibly ruptured and dusky,
Filled with toneless tears.
The conflicted cask of spirits:
A couple, exalting the rapturous, white-hot sangria;
A loner, grieving over the sallow ferment.
Single taper, engage with another
To form a radiating pair;
Lonely chalice, heal your sorrow
By cleaving with a faithful vessel;
Oh, watery nectar, blush
A brilliant shade of burgundy!
Isolated elements, sanctified by grace.
