Why Chris Rene Lost to Melanie Amaro on ‘The X-Factor’

COMMENTARY | Melanie Amaro is the undisputed champ of “The X-Factor,” winning a whopping $5 million dollar contract. OK, you are thinking, if Melanie is the undisputed champ, why am I disputing her victory? First, let me say that Melanie 100 percent deserves to be crowned the “X-Factor” Queen. She has been a force to be reckoned with every since Simon recovered from his temporary insanity and brought her back on the show.

Most people were thinking that Chris Rene was going to win, and millions of jaws dropped around the world when he was the first of the three final contestants to be eliminated. It puzzled me at first and then it came to me: “I know why Chris lost!”

If you flash back one day before, all three contestants did a great job. Melanie definitely came out strong on both songs and sent a message that she was in it to win it.

Chris did two things that were a huge mistake. First he re-sang the song that helped him get on the show, “Young Homey.” Second, and this was the nail in the coffin, he sang the song in an a way that came off as if he was taking a victory lap with his song. The tragic part was that the rendition he did in the finale was not as good or as heartfelt as the original version that he did.

He would have smoked the competition had he written an original song that had the same impact as “Young Homey” did when we first heard it.

Meanwhile Malanie came out like a ninja assassin with two songs that were unique to her and she blew them out of the water.

I like Chris and was personally rooting for him to win. However Melanie was the stronger contestant in the previous nights performance and she 100 percent deserved to win because after all, people were voting based on the previous night’s performance.
