Make a cell phone cover from a blue jean back pocket with a button and button flap. Adding a small denim tab and a clip hook allows you to clip your cell phone to a belt loop, handbag, purse, belt or backpack.
Things You’ll Need:
Blue jean pocket with button and button flap
Scissors
1-by-2-inch piece of blue jean fabric
Straight pins
Sewing machine
Thread
Clip hook
Instructions:
Step 1 – Cut the blue jean pocket with button and button flap from the blue jeans as close to the edge of the pocket as possible.
Step 2 – Place the 1-by-2-inch piece of blue jean fabric on a flat surface so the 2-inch edges are on a vertical axis. Turn each edge to the center so they meet. Pin in place.
Step 3 – Set your sewing machine to the widest zigzag stitch. Center the needle over the area where the denim meets. Sew down the center of the denim with a zigzag stitch. This is the back side of the strip.
Step 4 – Slide the denim strip through the clip hook.
Step 5 – Place the denim strip on a flat work surface so the back side of the strip is facing up and the long edges are on a horizontal axis. Fold the left side to the right side and match the short edges.
Step 6 – Open the pocket on the denim pocket. Position the left edge of the pocket so the top of the denim strip back is approximately 3/4-inch from the upper left hand corner of the pocket and overlaps the strip by approximately 3/8-inch. Pin into place.
Step 7 – Sew the denim strip to the pocket.
Slide your cell phone inside the pocket for safe keeping. Clip the pocket in the desired location.
