God Does NOT Support PETA

Angela Simmons did a PETA ad recently that really bothered me. On the ad is the quote “eating meat is a sin.” She also spoke about being a devout christian and thinking that God’s animals deserves to be treated in a certain way. I am all for people supporting whatever cause they please but what I hate is when people use the name of God to push a cause. Where in the Bible does it say that eating meat is a sin? If you open the Bible right now, you are likely to fall upon a passage where animals are being sacrificed or eaten. God created the animals to be food. Right in the beginning He made it clear saying “every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything (Genesis 9:3)”. So how can eating meat be a sin? What is a sin is judging people for eating meat. Romans 14: 2-4 says “One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another?” So why do the people who support PETA think it’s okay to judge those who eat meat?

There are so many other verses that deals with eating meat. If you do a quick search you would discover that meat is discussed over and over again in the Bible. If someone is going to use God or the Bible as their reason for not doing something, they need to be sure to do their research first. If you don’t, you would just end up looking like an idiot. Now, maybe the way that the animals are killed is truly cruel but talking about the methods of killing the animals is a different matter than talking about whether or not it is right to eat animals. I do not know whether or not animals really have feelings. All I know is that they were put on the earth to be food for us. As long as meat continues to taste as good as it does, I will continue to eat it. More power to the Vegans and Vegetarians. I think it’s amazing that they can be that disciplined but I don’t even like Vegetables and it’s definitely not a lifestyle that I would ever be interested in. I know that Angela did the ad for a good purpose and I’m sure she had good intentions but it’s just her choice of using the word sin and mentioning the whole God and being a Christian thing that bothered me. If she was trying to guilt Christians into not eating meat, I think she did a poor job. God said all he had to say and he does need anyone to put words in his mouth!
