TOS Review – Easy Classical Schedule

As a homeschooling mother of three who uses a classical eclectic approach in our homeschool, I was really excited to be able to review something from Easy Classical.

Easy Classical was founded by Sandra Williams. The curriculum she has developed is based upon the principles and information found in The Well-Trained Mind by Susan Wise Bauer.

Sandra Williams states that you must read The Well-Trained mind in order to understand and apply that knowledge to the schedules she has created.

I agree with Sandra, as I have read the book, and without the knowledge found within those pages, the basic foundation of the classical approach is lost, therefore understanding Sandra’s Schedule is also lost.

I was asked to review the Early Modern Age (Explorers to 1815) History Schedule created by Sandra Williams.

I have not incorporated this history program into my homeschool as of yet because we are studying Ancient History.

I do love the schedule that Sandra Williams has set up and will begin to implement it within the next year as we come to that time period in our history studies. We actually have a lot of the resources that Sandra recommends and a lot of those that are needed in order to complete this course schedule.

Sandra Williams has taken the guesswork and the legwork out of making a course schedule. She has put her time and effort into creating a well-rounded classical based schedule so that we are free to enjoy the homeschooling experience.

Sandra even gives you a supplies/shopping list for the next week. I really like that!

Sandra Williams has written a 36 week schedule that is broken down into individual weeks and then broken down even farther into individual days.

She gives the subject within the subject that your student will be studying, for example within history, your student will study reading, geography, writing, drawing, etc.

Sandra Williams breaks each subject down to the actual text book resource (if you will) and on what pages you will read from each day. So for instance, one of the resources is Story of the World Volume 2, and Sandra broke that down to reading chapter 32 on the very first day of the very first week. Each resource is broken down just like that one throughout the entire school year.

All of the planning has been done! All you need to do is make sure you have the resources needed on hand. It is so simple that grandma or grandpa could follow it for a day or more should something come up. For the more independent learner the student could take on the schedule themselves each week with the parent going over it with their student at the end of the week. It really is that simple!

This History Schedule is geared for elementary aged children but could be adapted for older children in my opinion.

The history schedule is a great value for the product you are purchasing and better yet you can choose from the notebook version for $35.95 or if you don’t want to wait for the product to be shipped, a digital version is available for $29.95.
