How long does it take for a hang-over to set in?
Q: I know that we process out one unit of alcohol per hour, so I might be able to work out how long until we are no longer drunk, but does a hang-over start while we’re still drunk or does it start to happen some time after we sober up. I’m always asleep at this point, so I’ve never really noticed when one takes over from the other
A: A hang over definitely can and will start while you are still drunk, but the fact that you are drunk allows you not to notice the hangover as much as you would otherwise. The main cause of a hangover is the extreme dehydration that all the alcohol you have put in your system has caused. While you are still drinking you will continue to hydrate your body because liquor does have water in it, so the your hangover will not really start until you have stop drinking. However, it will not take long after you stop drinking for you body to dry out and you will soon start feeling the effects of the hangover. Add to this the fact that your body is going in to a mini-shock because it wants more ethanol (the drug in alcohol) and you can start feeling pretty bad.The best thing to do is to drink lots of water during and after a night of binge drinking… but this only leaves less room for the beer!Hope this helps. 🙂
After you soak a grapevine garland to hang over a doorway do you separate it into 2 and then hang it?
Q: We are trying to figure out how to hang a grapevine garland over our front door and it is 18 feet long. One end is bigger than the other so do we separate it into before we hang it?
A: I’ve never heard of soaking them. I hung one once, and just folded it into the proper length to fit, twisted it “pretty” and hung it on cup hooks. If it’s too long, cut it.
Best way to prevent a Hang Over when drinking?
Q: Im going to a bachelor party this weekend and plan on consuming alot more alchol than I normally do. Is there something I can do or take to help prevent or make the hang over not as bad the next morning? Currently my hang overs are SOOO Bad and ruin the entire day.Obviously “NOT” drinking will prevent a hangover, but that wasnt the question.Im going on a brewery tour, a baseball game, football game and out to the bars. Im a social drinker and plan on being social all weekend long. There is nothing wrong with what I am doing, so there is no need for the guilt trip. If you are too dumb to answer a simple question, no need to attempt an answer. I would rather feel hung over than be a social reject and not participate in the bachelor party activities.
A: Whoever says to drink vodka and you won’t get a hangover has obviously not gotten completely annhialated off of vodka. When I drink booze, I drink vodka and I have woken up to as many mean hangovers as while drinking anything else.I am a seasoned lush, so therefore I recommend to go to a CVS, Rite Aid, or Duane Reade or whatever drug store in your area and invest in a bottle of 1000mg vitamin B12.Pop one before you go out drinking, or pop one before you go to bed. Make sure throughout the night you stay hydrated (drink water). B12 eats the toxins in the alcohol. You can get bombed, pop a B12, pass out, and wake up WITHOUT a headache. You will still be wobbly, but a greasy breakfast and a couple cups of coffee and a gallon of water can cure that.
