How to Make Yourself Sneeze

All of us have experienced it at some point- the sneeze that just won’t happen. It’s one of the most irritating sensations known to human kind. But you don’t have to sit there and suffer in anticipation of a sneeze that just won’t materialize. The following tips are designed to help make you sneeze instantly.

Try looking toward the sun.
If it’s daytime, you’re in luck. Just look toward the sun. Don’t look directly at it because that’s really damaging to the eyes. Just cast your glance in its general direction. Even if it’s a cloudy day, this method should still work as long as you can see the sun behind the clouds. Usually, this alone is enough to have you sneezing instantly.

Look at the nearest light
If you’re near a lamp or an overhead light, look right into it. I have no idea why this works, but as with looking in the sun’s direction, it works like a charm. If it’s night time, this is going to be the first option you want to try. If the closest light doesn’t make you sneeze, go for the brightest light you can find, instead. You should sneeze almost immediately.

Get a whiff of pepper
Cayenne pepper is my go-to but black pepper should work just fine. Don’t actually get it in your nose. Just smell it like you would smell a flower and then quickly turn your head away. This method can be a little dangerous, because if you sneeze Into the pepper- it’s going to get messy. Plus, you run the risk of getting pepper in your eye, something you definitely want to avoid at all costs. It’s worse than having a sneeze that won’t come out.

These three tips will pretty much ensure that you never have to sit there and patiently await an uncomfortable, stubborn, sneezing sensation. There are other methods I know of, but they would all involve exposing yourself to an allergen. That is probably not going to be necessary. Each of these methods works for me consistently and without fail. Hopefully, they’ll work for you as well. Happy sneezing! (And bless you!)
