The First Responder

They fight shoulder to shoulder

Against time they must prevail

The lives of many rest on them

In their task they must not fail

These things that make you dream

Things that make you wander

What would happen to us?

Without the First Responder?

They don’t watch a clock

They don’t count the time

They give all that Fate can’t dock

To save your life and mine

These things that make you think

Things that make you smile

You can thank the First Responder

For going that extra mile

They were there the day the Towers fell

No invitation was needed

Now they are told “There is no room!”

But in thanks they are not cheated

They do the things that they must do

They don’t need thanks to ponder

Please keep them safe in Your arms dear Lord

And protect the First Responder
