A: When you are hungry, try to choose healthier snacks/food. Get a copy of the new food guide/triangle and try to follow it – it doesn’t have any junk food on it. When you do your shopping don’t buy cookies, chips, and candy – if it’s not in the house you will likely eat something else. Choose yogurt instead of pudding, or fruit instead of cookies. A: Like you, I always hated exercise (morally opposed to sweat, y’know!) and love to eat. Before I knew it, I weighed 357 pounds! Atrocious, I know! A health scare made me take notice. I joined Weight Watchers on the recommendation of my doctor. I learned about healthy eating and portion control. I started being more active. So far, I’ve lost 100 pounds! Yes, I still have a ways to go, but I feel (and look) so much better! I can even play tennis, now! My daughter thinks it’s hilarious when I run, but hey! I’m running!! :)The most important thing you can do is to commit to getting healthy. Find an eating plan you can live with. Whether it’s South Beath, Atkins, Mediterranean, or Weight Watchers, what matters is that it fits your style. Personally, I couldn’t do Atkins. Who cares if you can have all the bacon and eggs you want if you can’t have toast!!As for exercise . . . you DO NOT have to pay exorbitant fees to join some gym. Just be active. Go for a walk. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Ride your bike, go for a swim, play tennis or basketball. I’m sure you get the idea. :)Good luck to you!
