Holiday Season 2011 Festivities in New York City

New York city is a fabulous place for holiday activities. With so much to see and do, this popular town thrives during the holiday season. Below find a few of these great activities in New York city and its surrounding areas.

Macy’s-Thanksgiving-Day-Parade
This classic, New York city parade (in its 85th year) is always a family friendly delight. Held in the morning on Thanksgiving, get your spot early since the crowds will come and there are a lot of street closures.
Date: Thursday November 24th at 9am. Check website for locations.

Hannukah Lights
Great for Jewish families. At 4:30 pm each day of Hannukah, sing songs, dance and enjoy chocolate gelt afterwards. Starts on December 20th and lasts until December 28th.
Location: 92 Y Uptown, Lexington Avenue at 92nd Street.

New York City Ballet: Nutcracker
This traditional holiday show is a beautiful, spectacular and special way to spend the holidays with loved ones, family and friends. Showing at the David H Koch Theater in Lincoln Center (70 West 63rd Street), get your tickets as soon as you can since this is a popular event.
Opens November 25th and shows until December 31st. Matinee and evening shows available.

Rockefeller-Center Christmas-Tree Lighting
This is a tradition for natives and tourists alike. Tree lighting, ice skating and just a grand ole time. For those going “green,” the tree is recycled and reused every year – the stump is used for jumps for horse jumping and the rest of tree is mulched.
Location: 30 Rockefeller Plaza. November 30th. The tree lighting is a free event.

4th Annual Times Square All Access Pass New Years Eve
One of the newest, but popular, traditions in NYC, you will get to see the ball drop live, free admission to many venues, bars, restaurants, clubs and more, free appetizers at some participating venues, party favors and more. Dress appropriately. There are different “All Access” packages starting at $250 per person.
