Christmas Crafts: 3 Beautiful Christmas Card Holder Projects

Christmas is the time to do all kinds of festive activities like baking cookies, decorating and making cinnamon potpourri. And the day count down to Christmas also brings wonderful cards. I used to tape these beautiful cards around my closet door frame or tape them to a long piece of ribbon, but I thought such notes of Christmas spirit should be displayed in a better location. So here are a few card holder crafts to give your Christmas cards a little extra sparkle.

Clear as Soft Snow, Delicate and Sheer Cardholder

What you will need:

1 Sheer Curtain (buy one long enough to cover a small window plus 6 inches) Curtain Rod Cards and Photos

First you start with the curtain and cut the 6 extra inches off the bottom and hem the cut edges. Next you take the 6 extra inches and cut 4 to 6 pockets. You want pockets deep enough to each hold one card and then hem the edges of each pocket fabric. Now all you have to do is sew each pocket onto the curtain fabric and hang up your curtain. The sheer curtain will allow you to see through so the card shows through. White or creamy color curtains are best colors to pick.

Fabric Bulletin Board Christmas Cardholder

What you will need:

1 Cork Bulletin Board Gold or Silver Decorative Cord Thin Quilt Batting Red Fabric Gold Spray Paint Thumbtacks

First you paint the frame to the bulletin board a gold color, or any Christmassy color you choose, let dry. Then you cut the quilt batting to the size of the cork board. And then you take the fabric and cut it one inch larger than the batting overall on each side. Next, you cover the batting with the fabric carefully folding the extra fabric under the batting and then you tack to the board. Finally you tack the gold cord diagonally so you are left with diamond shapes to secure your cards with.

Card Holder Made from a Tomato Cage

What you will need:

1 Tomato Cage Wooden Clothespins Metal Bucket Red and Green Spray Paint 18 Gauge Wire

First to start this Christmas craft, you take the tomato cage and invert so the cage has more of a Christmas tree shape. Now you want to bring the ends together at the top of this wire tree and secure with wire with needle nose pliers. Next you paint the half the clothespins, the bucket and the wire tree green, and then paint the other half of the clothes pins red and let dry. Now, you can either wire or clothespin the tomato cage to the bucket and then pin the rest of the clothes pins around on the cage. If you want to stencil in a Christmas tree design on the front of the bucket, just cut out a tree design out of paper and paint it on. And now all you have to do is pin your Christmas cards right to the tree.
