Apply heat, taking daily vitamins, and also light exercise regularly can really help keep menstrual cramps at bay, or relieve them. Of course a pain reliever can always help as well. Thanks for ChaChaing!

What is the safest way to get rid of menstrual cramps?
Q: I have not tried any medicine yet because i’m afraid it’s not safe, and I don’t want to get addicted to it, where I think I should take it every time i’m on my period just because I think it helps. Before I think about medicine, are there any natural cures? Thank you for taking your time to answer my question and it’s very much appreciated.I’m a teen btw.
A: As far as I know, it’s not possible to get addicted to any of the pills you can take for menstrual relief, but they do work better for some people than others. They never helped me that much, for example. What did was exercise, all through the month, not just around the time of my period. I also noticed that dairy products seemed to make them worse, so I cut dairy out of my diet as much as possible (I love yogurt and ice cream). That may or may not be true for you, but you could try keeping a food diary for a couple months to see if you notice whether your cramps are easier or worse depending on what you eat. Another food issue I had was chocolate. I’ve heard it helps some women, but in my case, it was a surefire way to go from uncomfortable to literally writhing in pain. (The chemicals in chocolate contract your uterus.)Having a baby appears to have gotten rid of them once and for all, but I wouldn’t advise that for anyone unmarried or younger than about 24. You gotta live your own life for awhile before you turn it over to someone else. 🙂
