Egypt: Is it true cats can prevent girls from becoming pregnant?
Q: Why do I seem to only be hearing this in Egypt???I live in the states and come to Egypt for vacation and I had a cat in Egypt. My cousins and family members saw it and they say ” Oh u shouldnt keep that. It will bring u diseases” And I come to the US and ask about it and they say they never heard of this. It can only harm pregnant women if they clean the litter box. So is there any proof that it can prevent girls from being pregnant. Because I know someone who had two cats for a long time and was able to get pregnant still. I think its just all a coincidence and everyone blames it on the cat.. what do u think??Dont u think ur cousin has the problem not the cat?? Bi daleel en masha2allah khalefit 3ayelein ba3daha. So if it was the cat she wouldnt get pregnant at all. (if that was true…)
A: No, cats cannot prevent a woman from becoming pregnant. That is a myth. However, pregnant women should not clean the cats litter box, as she may get toxoplasmosis. Also people with weakened immune systems (such a people with HIV) should not clean a cats litter box because of this parasitic disease. In Egypt there are stray cats everywhere. They love cats, but cannot afford for the most part to provide adequate health care for them. They do not have a spaying and neutering program. Most cats (and dogs too), live on scraps of food from peoples garbage. The females have litter after litter of kittens, thus weakening mother and her babies leaving them at high risk for disease.
Are sonic mouse repellers harmful to pregnant women?
Q: i.e. the baby growing. It is a sound that we can’t hear or dogs or cats but could they be any harm to pregnant women?
A: Not at all, it’s a high decibal machine – nothing nuclear or chemical. If you want a natural approach: use peppermint oil – the pure kind, not the flavor you find in the craft section, that only attracts ants and bugs. Spray it any where you know that the mice hang out. Dampen a cotton ball with it and leave it out – this will drive them away within a day – I promise. It’s a natural repellant and has actual health benefits of breathing in the aroma – may even help destress you a little.
Is cat urine smell coming thru an apartment vent hazardous to a pregnant woman?
Q: My sister is pregnant living in an apartment, the people directly beneath her have cats and a filthy apartment. The smell from the cats comes through her heat ducts and her apartment REEKS. She is using 2 air purifiers but it still stinks, She is breathing this every day and I am concerned it can harm her or the baby. The landlord says there is nothing he can do.the landlord is an old nice guy that says he can’t smell it, (which shouldn’t matter )and the best he can do it to not renew Mr Stinky’s lease when it expires in April. He said they can have a different apartment when it comes available March 31, I was concerned about her breathing it for months until then (she is 12 weeks)
A: actually, its not cat poo or pee. its the litter. as long as she isnt around the smell of the litter, she should be ok. which is why everyone says never to have a pregnant woman change the litter. same with small critters etc… and you should look into the landlord thing. there is something they can do about it if it is getting complaints. if not, i would get the police involved and say that there is a pregnant woman involved. they would at least file something and talk to the landlord.
