What are the chances of becoming pregnant while using birth control pills without the aid of condoms?
Q: I have been on birth control pills for 2 years. My boyfriend and I do not use condoms when we are having sex (both of us are positively clean), but the directions on the pills specifically state that a back up method is not neccessary (I am aware their effectiveness is 96% – 98.9%) I have also heard that the effectiveness can be as low as 87% for some people… and this worries me. I take the pill between 10-11 pm each day and if I happen to forget I ALWAYS take the missed pill as soon as I remember (often along with another that I have not missed) I have never missed more than 2 in a row and I have never not taken a pill at all (except the placebo types that you take while on your period. (again, the directions state to throw out the placebo pills if you miss one or two.)
A: You have at least a 1% chance of becoming pregnant while on birth control and you take it exactly as directed. The effectiveness is lessened if you forget to take your active pills. So, at least 1%.
Are you liable to fall pregnant if you mess up your birth control?
Q: Okay so i was randomly taking the birth control so i didnt come on my period, i would miss one day, take 3 and wait 2 days and so on. Then after 12 pills (id stopped taking that packet about a monther before) I ran out on the thursday, i had sex on the saturday, unprotected, 4 times, i then took a fresh packet of the pill sunday and have been taking it as directed. What are the chances i am pregnant? Please hold the lectures, i know im up shit creek.
A: your chances are definately increased. I would read the package because it says to never triple up doeses like that. Doubleing them so you dont have to take them tomorrow or the day after doesnt protect you. Just so you know in the future. I would just treat my body right just in case I was pregnant though. Good Luck.
Wife missed three birth control pills. Pregnant chances?
Q: My wife, who is a Sunday starter, was on her 2nd week of birth control pills and missed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We were out of town, and she remembered her pill only after we had unprotected sex on Friday and Saturday. We got home on Sunday afternoon and she immediately took two tablets. Then, she read the instructions and realized she needed to start a new pack. So, she threw that pack out and took two pills on Monday and has been taking regular pills since. The three missed days were Oct 23, 24, 25. Sex on 24th and 25th. She’s been on birth control for over 3 years, if that makes a difference. She’s been feeling like she’s trying to start her period. This includes leg aches, cramping, and sore ovaries. What do you think? Chances of being pregnant? Does length of time on the pill make a difference? Does her missing at end of 2nd week make it more or less likely?Thank you for your input! And would this be too early for a home pregnancy test to work? I mean, it’s only been 7 and 8 days since the sex, and this coming week would be the week her period should have come.
