- That’s not really a phobia. It’s more of a negative affect type of thing. I guess some would call it a personality trait or maybe just pure anxiety.

- How does someone overcome an extreme fear of abandonment and being left alone?
- Q: Rooted very early in childhood and persisting into adulthood. Causes anxiety, depression and rage.
- A: I can relate to your problem, I to have battled abandonment issues most of my life. I do not have an easy “fix”. I have been through counseling (I’m not sure it helped all that much) and a lot of soul searching. For me, most of the men I have been with have only fueled the insecurities. The best thing I have found to handle the problem is a stable relationship with an trustworthy man. I wish I had a “magic potion” for you, I know how “crazy” it makes you feel. Just hang in there and hang on, “a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step”. Good luck.
- i have a fear of being left home alone for more than an hour?
- Q: i have this fear, i been to the thrapist , but he cant figure it out , after 2 hurs alone i start to panic , what does it mean , what can i do
- A: You might have a phobia of some sort. Psychologists recommend “desensitization.’ You do it by exposing yourself, a little step at a time, to your source of phobia, until such time when you no longer have the phobia. If you’re scared of being home alone for more than an hour, try to be alone and do enjoyable things for an hour, then for an hour and a half, then for two hours, and so on and so forth, until such time that you no longer harbor any fear of being left home alone.
