5 Famous TV Characters that Packed Up and Moved

1. Dr. Frasier Crane
Apparently divorce was enough to make Frasier want to leave the bar where everyone knows your name. The character Frasier, left the TV show Cheers, and went on to the longest running spin-off, ever: Frasier. When Frasier divorced Lilith, he moved from Boston, Massachusetts to his own eponymous show, Frasier, set in Seattle, Washington, where he lived with his father and hosted a call-in radio show.

2. Laverne, Shirley, and Friends
Laverne and Shirley were doing it their way and making all their dreams come true, when on season six, they decided to move from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Burbank, California. The move was prompted by the girls losing their bottle capping jobs to new automation installed at Shotz Brewery. Thereby, wanting to start fresh, the girls venture out west. Inspired by the girls’ hoots-pa, the friends and family of Laverne & Shirley also pack up to move out west, and of course, neighbors Lenny and Squiggy could not be left behind.

3. Lucy, Ricky, and the Mertzes
In season six, Lucy becomes fed up with city life, and she and Ricky move from their Manhattan apartment, to Westport, Connecticut. After Lucy expresses much grief over missing Ethel, the Mertzes soon follow the Ricardos to the country. The Manhattan building where Lucy and Ricky lived, had the fictional address of 623 East 68th Street, on the Upper East Side. In reality, this building would be located directly in the East River.

4. The Cast of Nip/Tuck
At the end of the fourth season, the entire cast of Nip/Tuck moves from Miami, Florida, to Beverly Hills, California. Now in the land where perfection is a must, and setting up shop in incredibly fancy new digs; Christian, Sean and Liz have a problem: no patients. But their luck changes when Lauren Hutton guest stars as a publicist, to help them bring in business to their new office, and lands them a job as consultants on a hit fictional TV show, Hearts ‘n Scalpels.

5. Rhoda
Rhoda Morgenstern moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to New York City, when the Mary Tyler Moore Show spin-off, Rhoda, was created. After arriving in New York, Rhoda starts her own window dressing company and later takes a job at a costume company. First, Rhoda lived on East 84th Street with her sister, but then, Rhoda settles in with her parents in the Bronx. During season one, after relocating back to New York City, Rhoda meets ruggedly handsome Joe Gerard and marries him soon afterward. When Rhoda gets married, the cast of the Mary Tyler Moore Show come to visit.
