A: My friend had hers out when she had just turned 18, and had been sick for at least a year before that. She was in so much pain, it was terrible. We were in boarding school, and I would sometimes sleep on her floor and hold her hand through the night while she writhed in convulsive fits of agony. I think you should get a second opinion. I’m wondering if your doctor is seeing if you’ll “outgrow” it or something. Either way, if you’re sick, you’re sick and age shouldn’t decide this surgery.
