How long does it take to recover after having your GallBladder removed?
Q: How long does it take to recover after having your GallBladder removed? Is it a In or Out Patient procedure?Do you think I will be able to take care of my newborn by myself or will I need help?
A: It’s an outpatient procedure (assuming laproscopic here), but someone will need to be available to drive you home.Recovery is usually complete in a week, though I would expect you to need some help the first two days, at least. A newborn is a lot of work, and I’m not sure you’re supposed to be lifting anything at first.
How old do you have to be to get your gallbladder removed?
Q: In January of 2005 I started having stomach problems and after a million different tests, the doctor found out it was my gallbladder and that I was developing gall crystals(baby gallstones). At the beginning of each year and sometimes a couple other times a year I would have a month or so where I lived off of nothing but soup and toasted chicken sandwiches and I wouldn’t be able ot keep any food down. Earlier this year I stopped eating so many fried and fast foods and now I eat healthier. It seemed to help until last night, I feel like I’m having gallbladder problems again. I’m only 16 now and my doc said two years ago that I was too young… am I old enough now? I feel so sick and horrible!!!!!They never gave me any meds either, and said I couldn’t have surgery, what do I do?I’ll be 17 in Feb.
A: My friend had hers out when she had just turned 18, and had been sick for at least a year before that. She was in so much pain, it was terrible. We were in boarding school, and I would sometimes sleep on her floor and hold her hand through the night while she writhed in convulsive fits of agony. I think you should get a second opinion. I’m wondering if your doctor is seeing if you’ll “outgrow” it or something. Either way, if you’re sick, you’re sick and age shouldn’t decide this surgery.
what is the best test to determine if you need your gallbladder removed?
Q: but i have had a ct scan, ultrasound, (which they found nothing)and a test that tells you how much it is working ( it said it was working about 67%). what do i do now?
A: It sounds like you’ve already had them. If your gallbladder is only working at 67% then you need to discuss with yourr doctor having it removed.
